The L8est: Don’t Pull the Plug Edition

A recap of what happened this week.

| September 3, 2014

8. Beijing says “no” to open elections for Hong Kong.

As if the gap between the mainland and Hong Kong wasn’t already large enough, Beijing’s attempts to limit democracy are not going to go over well there.

7. Grace Poe believes the MRT is not a hopeless case.

We would rather take her word than Abaya’s, because unlike the DOTC secretary, she actually got in line to ride it, and didn’t have someone carrying an umbrella for her.

6. The Fappening

Many photos of celebrities were recently leaked after they were purportedly hacked. This massive invasion of privacy involves the likes of Rihanna, Jennifer Lawrence, and Kate Upton.

5. The Eraserheads release 2 new singles after 13 years

Yay! More songs for Tim Yap to mess up the lyrics to again!

4. Pnoy is best man – again.

This time, he will stand as best man to Chiz Escudero for his wedding with Heart Evangelista. It would appear Pnoy is the male equivalent of “always the bridesmaid, never the bride.”

3. Mark Gil passes away.

On September 1, Mark Gil, respected actor and part of the Eigenmann clan, passed away at the age of 52.

2. Team Gilas Pilipinas still winless in FIBA World Cup.

Team Gilas has really been working doubly hard for the FIBA World Cup, but have yet to have a win to show for it as they fell to Greece by 8 points, then to Argentina by 4 in another heartbreaker. Even a single win would be a really big deal at this point.

1. Family keeping its fingers crossed for Joan Rivers.

It’s an odd gesture for a Jewish family, but her family is still pulling for her to make it, despite discussions over pulling Joan Rivers off of life support. This situation is rapidly developing and something else may come up by the time this gets published.
