GLOW is a fictionalized account of the women’s professional wrestling circuit of 1980s Los Angeles called the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW). It’s centered on Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie), an unemployed actress who receives an invitation to audition for GLOW where she meets 12 other “misfits” who, along with her, want to jumpstart their own individual journeys towards reinvention. It’s these characters that gave the entire series its lovable charm, and it’s hard not to find anything likeable about each of them. It may be a bit too profane (maybe not fit for Holy Week), but it’s very sweet, funny, and charming.

This beloved Japanese reality series returns with this all-new season, where six strangers live together in one house in the hopes of finding friendship and romance, and are free to leave and be replaced by a new member once they’ve had enough. Terrace House: Opening New Doors will be located in Karuizawa, Nagano, a beautiful mountain town known for its hot springs and snowboarding activities.
The show is long and slow-paced, with each episode covering one full week at the house, but once you start watching you won’t be able to stop until the end. If you haven’t gotten on the Terrace House bandwagon yet, Holy Week is the perfect time to familiarize yourself with the craze. Only the first part has been filmed and released for this season too, so before the succeeding parts arrive, you better binge this one right away.

Santa Clarita Diet is not your typical zombie series. This horror-comedy stars Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant as husband-and-wife realtors who must cope with the fact that Sheila (Barrymore) has turned undead in need of human flesh.
This series is definitely a much fresher, more comedic take on zombie series thanks to the premise of the show and Barrymore and Olyphant’s onscreen chemistry and characterization. It doesn’t withhold itself from displaying blood and gore, but the humor and the optimism of the characters despite their situation will help you stomach the graphic scenes a little better. With the second season coming up soon, the Holy Week break is perfect for binging the first season, if you haven’t yet!

Casual anime fan? Devilman Crybaby is definitely worth your time, especially during this Lenten Season. Based on a popular manga, this series is about a human who gets possessed by a demon in his friend’s valiant effort to defeat an ancient demonic race trying to invade Earth. However, as the world grows more into chaos, he is faced with a dilemma of choosing between fighting for the humans or letting them perish. This anime is deeply gross and so disturbing that it isn’t for the weak-willed. However, the ending will affect you in ways you can never imagine.
