Before there was a Kathniel, Jadine, and Lizquen, there were these ’00s Filipino love teams that made our hearts flutter while watching their teleseryes and blockbuster movies.  Although they’ve all moved on to different love teams, we miss the days when we would wait for their new projects to come on. Let’s look back at these OG love teams that we all stanned back in the day.

Judy Ann Santos and Piolo Pascual

Though they were never an IRL couple, the Juday-Piolo tandem gave us some of the most romantic movies of the early 2000s: Kahit Isang Saglit (2000), Bakit ‘Di Totohanin (2001), Till There Was You (2003), Don’t Give Up on Us (2006). Although Judy Ann and Piolo have their own families now, fans are still shipping these two. Both actors have said that they’re open to a reunion project, so we’re still waiting for that reunion movie.

Kristine Hermosa and Jericho Rosales

One of the most popular love teams of the ’00s, Jericho and Kristine’s chemistry was so real that they even won an award for it (Most Popular Loveteam at the 2000 GMMSF Box-Office Entertainment Awards). Their teleserye Pangako Sa ‘Yo has aired in over 20 foreign countries, which only goes to show just how effective their tandem was. So it only made sense when the actors decided to give romance a go. However, their reel-to-real relationship didn’t work out, and they eventually called it quits. But that doesn’t mean that they’ve closed the door on projects; back in 2009, years after their breakup, they reunited for the teleserye Dahil May Isang Ikaw. Will we see them together again soon? We’ll have to wait and see.

Barbie Forteza and Joshua Dionisio

Remember this cute love team? Before Barbie Forteza was teamed up with some of the biggest heartthrobs, she was paired up with Joshua Dionisio. And although their pairing was successful, Joshua Dionisio left the showbiz industry to focus on his studies.

Angel Locsin and Richard Gutierrez

Angel Locsin and Richard Gutierrez were one of the hottest love teams in the Kapuso Network during the ’00s. Their amazing chemistry had fans on the edge of their seats. So after the pair left the network, fans wondered when they’d see these two together again. The two did reunite for the 2017 teleserye La Luna Sangre, but fans are still asking for a reunion movie. Thankfully, both stars are still open to doing projects together..

Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson

Better known as Kimerald, Kim Chiu and Gerlad Andersen made up probably the most popular love team to ever come out of Pinoy Big Brother. The pair eventually went on to star in some of the most biggest teleseryes and movies of the ’00s. The two also dated in real life, but ended it all in a highly publicized breakup. They might not be together, but the two are still open to be paired with each other in the future.

Sandara Park and Hero Angeles

Before she was a K-Pop idol, Sandara Park was a contestant in the reality show Star Circle Quest. She was paired up with fellow contestant Hero Angeles and the two starred in the movies BCoz of U and Can This Be Love. But when Sandara returned to South Korea in 2007, we saw the end of the Sandara-Hero tandem. Unless, of course, something happens to change that. *cough*hint*cough*

Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras

Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras were paired up after they both won the first season of StarStruck. The two starred in a lot of hit movies and teleseryes and eventually dated in real life. Although they eventually broke up, they remain good friends and are even civil with each other’s current partners. Both Mercado and Herras are open to pairing up in another movie and teleserye, if given a chance.

Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz

Bea and John Lloyd have been paired up numerous times and have faced countless dating rumors but these two have constantly stated that they’re just close friends. It’s been a while since the two starred in a film together and fans are still waiting for their next project together. For now, we’ll have to look forward to Antoinette Jadaone’s IG live movies and hope she features them again.
