When Pantone revealed that the dusty pink of Rose Quartz and soft blue of Serenity were the colors of the year for 2016, they were spot on. Fast forward to the end of the year and we’ve seen enough pastel pinks and baby blues on the racks to coat the entire earth in cotton candy hues. Something bolder for next year, please.
The chic older sister to the much-maligned harem pants, culottes have had a good run, serving as an edgy alternative to full skirts and traditional workwear.
But just think, this pair of chic wide-legged trousers is just a few floor-sweeping inches away from becoming those embarrassing elephant pants we all used to wear (it’s okay if you pretend not to remember).
…more specifically, the “Christy” lace-up flat from Aquazzura which has been unforgivingly copied every which way across the globe. It’s a chicken-and-egg situation and we can’t really say which came first, the demand or the supply. One thing’s for sure, though, and that is the cloning has got to stop! Let’s move on to a different shoe obsession now, shall we? We hear slippers are pretty in.
As classic as this style is, we have to draw the line when every other fashion brand, whether or not they actually sell sneakers, starts producing these white kicks just to get in on the trend. Even the pro styles (I’m looking at you, Stan Smiths) are starting to look a bit tired. Maybe it’s time to go back to black?
