8 Jams That Will Perk You Up on Rainy Days

Aug 27, 2019   •   Mandy Decena

When the rain is falling and everything is grey and gloomy, it sure is easy to feel down and bored. But who said we can’t have fun under the rain? All you need is the perfect jam to lift your spirits up!

Now stop chanting “rain, rain, go away” and add these 8 songs to your rainy day playlist to fully enjoy this sweater weather.

This Band’s “Tampisaw”

Via Viva Records

“Magtampisaw sa ulan. Tila walang pakialam sa mga tao sa paligid ko at kung tayo’y lalagnatin.”

This Band’s playful lyrics and catchy beats will make you loosen up and have that urge to play in the rain. Enjoy the rain like the way you used to as a kid, living in the moment and without a care in the world. Just be sure to wash up after the fun because getting sick is definitely a downer.

Jimi Hendrix’s “Rainy Day, Dream Away”

Via Jimi Hendrix

“Rainy day, dream away, let the sun take a holiday. Flowers bathe and see the children play.”

Jimi Hendrix’s chill and groovy music will serve as your reminder to sit back, relax and take a short break from this fast paced world. It’s not bad to laze around once in a while. This is your chance to allow yourself some time to gain your energy back.

Rivermaya’s “Ulan”

Via virphilippines

“Sinong ‘di mapapasayaw ng ulan. At sinong ‘di mababaliw sa ulan.”

There’s always something in the whisper of the wind and the pitter-patter of raindrops on your skin that make you want to dance and scream and make a splash with the puddles on the ground. Don’t be afraid to let your inner craziness loose as you sing along to this iconic Rivermaya jam!

Gene Kelly’s “Singing in the Rain”

Via lbarnard86

“I’m laughin’ at clouds so dark up above. The sun’s in my heart and I’m ready for love.”

Pissed from being stranded because of the rain? Allow Gene Kelly to share a little of his overflowing energy with you through this perky song. Give it a go and you’ll probably be as enthusiastic as him from being under the rain!

Sponge Cola’s “Tambay”

Via Wish 107.5

“Magpapalipas ng ulan kuwentuhan lang ang katapat. Pero mas masaya kung ilabas ang gitara, bigyan ng ingay itong gabi.”

What’s a better way to pass the time when you’re stranded than to spend it on little chit-chat with your friends or, if you’re lucky, with someone special. And don’t hesitate to follow Sponge Cola’s suggestion, you don’t need a campfire to be able to whip out that guitar and jam out to your favorite tunes!

Frank Sinatra’s “Pennies from Heaven”

Via Frank Sinatra

“You’ll find your fortune falling all over the town. Be sure that your umbrella is upside down.”

Keep the optimism alive with this catchy oldie but goody tune! The smooth vocals of Sinatra is timeless, and is the perfect background when enjoying a warm cup of coffee in a cozy café down the street.

B.J. Thomas’s “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head”

Via Backstage Vegas TV

“Those raindrops keep falling on my head but there’s one thing I know. The blues they send to meet me won’t defeat me. It won’t be long ‘til happiness steps up to greet me.”

Simple but fun, this song will surely leave you in a good mood and with a smile on your face. Like Thomas says, the rain won’t stop from anyone’s complaining, so just live in the moment and don’t let the rainy day blues get to you.

Imago ’s “Rain Song”

Via dajheng

Kool yawa-ee noc-u-es. Tee, see koomen…

Imago was always known for their weird way of expressing themselves. Squint a little harder and maybe you’ll see the actual meaning of the lyrics. But no matter, chanting to the seemingly senseless lyrics won’t fail to make you feel lighter through the heavy downpour.
