It’s Friday night, so you and your classmates/officemates/barkada decide to go out and do the most classic Pinoy activity ever: Videoke! Every videoke regular has a few go-to songs, with at least one OPM song in the mix. Here are the most popular OPM hits that continue to enjoy a steady rotation in every videoke lover’s playlist. Feel free to add these to your list, if they aren’t there already!
Also performed by Freestyle, this song is usually done as a duet. Just make sure you have two microphones, can keep up with your partner, and agree on who gets to go all out during the chorus — otherwise it’ll be a birit showdown.
If you want to relive your elementary/high school/college days, or want everyone else in the group to sing along with you (with or without mics), an Eraserheads song is guaranteed to do the trick. Trust me, you’ll have everyone joining in by the chorus. Other contenders include: “Pare Ko” and “With A Smile”.
Are you a superhero fan? Are you hurting over the MCU-Sony fight over Spiderman? Do you need to birit (or semi-yell at the mic, at least) your feelings out? Then it’s time to bring out “Narda” — just in time for the 2019 Darna reboot!

Here’s one that the wannabe rappers in the group try to pull off. That, or the one sort of drunk friend who selects this song just because he thinks it’s funny. . . even in 2019.
What’s videoke night without a song from Aegis? You can replace this song with “Halik” or “Basang Basa sa Ulan” to be honest. It doesn’t matter which song comes up next, as long as there is at least one Aegis song in the list before the night ends.
Before Moira, there was a string of female OPM pop singers, one of the most popular of which was Nina. “Someday” is probably her most famous hit and you can still hear it on the radio and various videoke joints.
This sweet, somewhat melancholy song is usually one of the first songs someone sings at the start of the night, before pulling out their baon na birit. This, or “Sundo” which is equally sweet and melancholy.
Is the object of your current unrequited love still on your mind? Are you in a “wanna hugot but not really into birit” mood? Then this song is perfect for starting or ending the night with.
