The pressure is on as we’re about to enter the last month of the year, signaling the annual most-awaited beauty pageant, the Miss Universe 2019 competition which will be held on December 9 at Atlanta, Georgia.
Last year was a momentous occasion for the Philippines when Catriona Gray won the 4th Miss Universe crown for the Philippines, for the first time in a long time too. This year, everyone is hoping for a back-to-back win as Gazini Ganados, our Miss Universe Philippines 2019 flies to the United States. With her are 104 million Filipinos cheering and hoping that this new queen will slay. Here’s why we’re betting she will win:
An elderly care advocate? that’s rare. She surely will slay all the rounds, because not only is she beautiful but also very sincere when speaking.
Win or lose, Gazini already proved that she’s a Queen, despite of many bashing against her. #GaziniGanado5 #MissUniversePhilippines pic.twitter.com/5lBkrYNJdr— (@supremo_vp) November 25, 2019
At only 23 years old, Gazini has participated and continues to be a part of numerous advocacies. She is an Elderly Care Advocate partnering with NGOs like Coalition of Services for the Elderly, Inc., which she has been recognized with an ASEAN Youth Leadership and Youth Icon Awards for 2019. She is also a Sustainable Development Goals Ambassador, an advocate for HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention, and has already worked with Smile Train Philippines interacting with kids with cleft lips and cleft palate.
Our nation is very competitive when it comes to beauty pageants. Whenever we send a Filipina out to any pageant, best believe everyone is supporting her and making her name trend online. Just like the warm support Catriona Gray got when she was fighting for the crown, the 104 million Filipinos are without a doubt rooting for Gazini.
If we think we’ve seen the best PH pageant outfits with Catriona’s jaw-dropping ensemble last year, we might be in for a surprise. Although Gazini hasn’t yet revealed her outfits, we know that her much-awaited national costume is made by Cary Santiago. Gazini only had this much to say about the costume: “Ito ‘yong pinakabonggang [national costume] that I will ever wear in my whole life and the Philippines will ever see.”
During the Binibining Pilipinas 2019 Coronation night, she wore a beautiful pink Phoenix inspired gown from the same designer and fellow Cebuano, Cary Santiago.
Becoming a beauty queen requires years of training and our dear Gazini has definitely got everything down pat. From her Phoenix walk to public speaking and how she will present herself during the entire competition, this beauty queen has been hard at work. In an interview with ABS-CBN News, she admitted that she’s focusing more on the question and answer portion more than anything.
She shines in her half-Palestinian and half-Filipino natural charm and beauty, with or without makeup. There’s also a certain heart-warming sincerity with Gazini when she speaks and answers questions. Even her high school and college classmates can attest to her kind heart. Just read the comments section in her guesting at Tonight With Boy Abunda!
Let us thank this people for their love, support and ofcourse the A++++ effort. Exciting!! Ang dami nila mga sesh na tumutulong kay Queen Gaz para makamit ang back to back sa Miss Universe for the Philippines. TYVM!! ❤️#MissUniversePhilippines #GaziniGanado5#Timeless pic.twitter.com/hUgNzOU28g

If Filipinos who have never even seen Gazini in the flesh are already supportive of her, how much more her own team? She has the best set of people to do her makeup, style her, coach her, and be with her throughout the journey. Not only that but she also has the support of previous Miss Universe winners Catriona Gray and Pia Wurtzbach. Gazini was never alone in this journey and the efforts of her A-Team combined with her grace and charm might actually secure that crown.
Beauty queens are humans too. It’s refreshing to see someone so prim and proper have a sense of adventure. Growing up in Cebu, Gazini says that her natural habitat is in the ocean and she proves this well enough every time she’s at home. Just look at her swim! We stan an adventurous queen!
Although we’re confident that Gazini can rock that stage and stun the judges and the public, we still can’t be sure of anything. So just like always, we’re preparing ourselves for a win and for a loss. If fate says she will be coming home without a crown, it won’t make a dent with every Filipino’s support for her. Win or lose, Gazini will always be well-loved.
Keep the crown Gazini! We are sending you lots of love from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao!
Raise our flag higher than high! Good luck, queen! #MissUniversePhilippines2019 #GaziniGanado5 #MissUniverse2019 #BbPilipinas2019 #Beyondbeauty pic.twitter.com/iG8njgQEMZ
