Like a security blanket or a nasty habit, there are some things in life we will never outgrow. And one of them is the Streetboys.
Having recently celebrated their 25th year, we all took a trip down memory lane and re-watched their best performances. And one thing we’ve all come to realize is this: baggy pants and cachupoy hair come and go, but Streetboys are forever.
Here are 8 we love:
Streetboys and MMMbop are a match made in heaven. Sometimes, it’s hard to distinguish whether you’re feeling *kilig* watching the Streetboys dance, or it’s the memory of the cute Hanson brothers that’s making you smile like silly. True to their chill dance moves and baggy clothes, we’ll keep watching this video in the years to come!
It’s hard not to gush at their men-in-black inspired costume, and marvel at how their wearing sunglasses make them instantly look, well, gwapooo. It’s 2018, but we still love their ~swabe~ moves, the group choreography, and the changes in costume!
Can somebody please explain how the Streetboys manage to make “simple” dance moves look so cool? Or maybe, the boys just have this innate charm that makes everything look easy. At this point, we are seriously petitioning to bring them back on noontime shows!
How can we not leave out this Streetboys classic? This feel-good song takes us back to summertime in the 90s, where everyone, at one point or another, danced their own versions of this song, too.
There’s really something about the Streetboys and their smooth moves. It’s like being adorable without even trying. And how can you not find them adorable in that costume? Streetboys dancing to soulful tunes like this are definitely what we lived for in the 90s!
This is another one of their most popular dances, which happens to be a favorite at street dance competitions and barangay performances, too. As always, the Streetboys take on the stage and dance like it’s nothing, charming you enough to question their shining shimmering costume.
Looking back, it makes you realize that maybe they aren’t the ~best~ dancers in the world (they aren’t the most synchronized group, either) but that doesn’t matter. “Fresh” is in fact a good word to describe the group. They were cute and fun and always a joy to watch perform, and maybe that’s the unique Streetboys charm that made the world fall for them.
Last but not the least, this song is what made us nostalgic of the Streetboys to begin with. We realize that after all these years, despite the boys having their own lives and families and careers and whatnot, our hearts haven’t changed for them. Streetboys forever!
