Is One Direction Reuniting This 2020? Here Are Signs That It Might Actually Happen

Filipino Directioners will never forget how their heart broke when Zayn Malik left One Direction back in March 2015. In fact, just a few days before the official announcement, One Direction had their first (and might we add smashing) 2-day concert at MOA Concert Grounds without Zayn. He had to pull out from the tour “due to stress”, making their stop in Manila the first concert with incomplete members.

After that, the 4-member group released another album, Made in the A.M., and then went on an indefinite hiatus that started in January of 2016.

Since they parted ways, Zayn, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson have pursued their solo careers. The boys found their own sound expressed through various albums and singles. They have grown and matured as musicians and their faithful Directioner fans supported them in everything they did. There’s always the hope for a reunion (hoping resulted in the Jonas Brothers’ reunion after all), and with recent events, it looks like a One Direction comeback is a huge possibility. To what extent, we’re left to wait and find out.

 

Liam Payne hinted that 1D might be hiding a 10th anniversary surprise up their sleeves

Liam “hinting” at it might not make it a surprise anymore but we can pretend to be surprised once 1D’s anniversary on July 23, 2020 rolls around.

In a video interview with The Sun, Liam confirmed that there’s a special project in the works for One Direction’s decade milestone. “We’ve got a ten-year anniversary coming up so we’ve all been speaking together a lot over the last few weeks which has been really nice,” he said.

He is in constant contact with bandmates Harry, Niall, and Louis regarding the celebration. “At the moment I’m not sure what I’m allowed to say,” he added which makes us cross our fingers in anticipation. Whatever this is, it’s not a simple posting of a greeting on Twitter (we hope).

 

Liam included this photo on his TikTok

Liam posted a Tiktok slideshow to promote his new song Midnight with Alesso. The slideshow included photos of the most memorable moments in his life, the last one being a group hug shot with Harry, Niall, and Louis. Liam is really out there giving life to all Directioners!

Apple Music changed their One Direction photo to all 5

Until a few days ago, One Direction’s account on Apple Music used to feature a photo of their latest lineup  (sans Zayn). Now it’s been changed to a photo that includes Zayn with his arm casually draped around Harry.

 

Zayn is no longer an “ex-member” on Google

The description under Zayn’s name used to say “ex-member”, but look what we have here. Hmm?

 

The band’s Twitter header was resized, and the YouTube account added new playlists

Somebody is doing a little bit of updating behind the official One Direction accounts. Eagle-eyed fans noticed the Twitter header was resized and YouTube playlists were updated. And speaking of Twitter, their official One Direction account also made Lists and it includes Zayn.


Curiously, there’s also a list named “One Direction Day VIPs.” What do you think could this mean?

 

There was some re-following happening on Twitter

According to some Directioners, the boys were already following Zayn’s account since a few months back. It’s the One Direction account that’s most likely new to the follow count. When he left the group in 2015, all the other members unfollowed him for a while. To this day, however, Zayn’s account is still not following any of his former members.

 

Niall thinks One Direction will get back together

In a Carpool Karaoke with James Corden uploaded on March 13, 2020, Niall said he believes One Direction will get back together. He answered James’ question without hesitation and the lie detector test proved he was saying the truth. James Corden’s face says it all, everyone is excited about this reunion if there ever will be one. Corden himself is a huge One Direction fan judging from all the times he used to have them as guests on his show.

 

Since the group announced their hiatus in 2015, the fanbase never really dissolved. Everyone who was a Directioner then is still a Directioner to this day and they’re waiting patiently for the boys to pull a “Jonas Brothers” and make their comeback. If the fans can sniff a reunion in the air, who are we to argue?

Whether the upcoming reunion would include Zayn Malik is still a question. Based on the stuff we just saw on Twitter, it might be a huge possibility. At this point, even a simple One Direction Zoom meeting would make everyone’s day.
