If you woke up confused after seeing #RIPJKRowling trend on Twitter — same. Among many other crappy things that 2020 has dealt us, we’ve had to say goodbye to quite a few influential persons or celebrities. But the Harry Potter creator isn’t actually dead. However, but her career might very well be. Here’s what happened:
RIP JK Rowling 😞
she’s not dead, we just don’t acknowledge transphobes in this house

The 55-year-old author of the best-selling Harry Potter series has drawn flak from netizens a day before the release of her new novel, Troubled Blood, which uses her pseudonym Robert Galbraith. It’s the fifth book of The Cormoran Strikes Series under the pseudonym.
Rowling had previously gone under fire from making controversial comments about the transgender community and it looks like she’s striking again. Troubled Blood follows the life of a private detective investigating a cisgender male who goes on killing sprees dressed as a woman. After Rowling’s previous comments towards the trans community, the internet just isn’t having it anymore.
And that’s when the internet decided to cancel her so hard; everyone pretended she’s dead and made it to the top trending list on Twitter with #RIPJKRowling.
Here’s how netizens reacted with hilarious tweets and memes:

jk rowling’s claims about the dangers of trans people are so far fetched that she had to write a fictional story to support them https://t.co/DUtT6G32gI

After being revealed as a transphobic author among other things, the premise of JK Rowling’s new novel was the last straw.
it has been recently revealed that daniel radcliffe, actor and star of the harry potter films, was in fact the real author of the harry potter novels but jk rowling, who was apparently jealous of radcliffe’s remarkable genius and prodigy, had stolen all the credit. #RIPJKRowling pic.twitter.com/1Ew3pGxnkh

Daniel Radcliffe is the real author of Harry Potter. He wrote it at age five — pure genius.
JUST IN: Jk Rowling just admitted that Lady Gaga wrote the entire Harry Potter series and she wanted to apologize to everyone for lying before she passed away, TMZ reports. #RIPJKRowling pic.twitter.com/JfWABXAaPs

How iconic would that be?
Good thing we don’t have to pay attention to JK Rowling because Britney Spears wrote Harry Potter #RIPJKRowling pic.twitter.com/oqko66Jmi4

Britney Spears after dropping a new Harry Potter book and getting praise: oops, I did it again.
jk rowling: i’m not trending anymore
publicist: that is great news

They must be under so much stress again after this.
don’t order the new JK Rowling from us.

This Florida-based bookstore really isn’t having it – Troubled Blood won’t be displayed on their shelves. The bookstore also added tweets saying anyone who tries to buy the novel from them would be added in their new installment – the Wall of Shame. They just earned new fans!

Could be a title for an upcoming novel.
JK Rowling would be the most beloved children’s author of all time if she just tweeted like “Hagrid hopes all the little wizards out there are having a good summer!” every once in a while

jk rowling u are a disgusting piece of garbage ….. i literally hate the fact that you created Harry Potter because we maybe could have enjoyed it but you are such an ACTIVE shitbag i don’t even want to think about it

Our childhood was made magical after being introduced to the Wizarding World and even years later, both the Harry Potter series and movies still has one of the biggest fan bases. But you just can’t have all good things in life, right?
