Just when you thought this was going to be an uneventful week, musicians left and right started releasing new music that’s completely changing our moods. When life gets too stressful, we’re thankful we have music and arts to help tide us from one day to the next. One musician we’re particularly excited for is Moira Dela Torre who just dropped her new song “Paubaya.” But before we jump into all the feels (there are a lot), check out this week’s news and new music releases by various artists.

It has been a full five years since Adele released “Hello,” the lead single off her third studio album, 25. There were rumors of an album set for release in September 2020 but of course, that didn’t happen since 2020 is still out to crush all our hopes and dreams. This fact is why everyone was on the edge of their seats when Adele tweeted the mysterious photo above. We got an answer: She hosted last weekend’s Saturday Night Live with H.E.R. as the musical guest. Not quite the album we were looking for but we’ll take it. We still can’t wait to see Adele on TV looking fit, fab, and gorgeous.
President Nadine Lustre is back with a dreamy alt-R&B title track to whet everyone’s appetite for her upcoming debut album Wildest Dreams. Careless Music Manila released the aesthetically pleasing visual album teaser which featured Nadine in alternating states of calm and fierceness. She mentioned in an interview “that the album will be a pop record” with a “mix some contemporary R&B – and even a hint of indigenous Filipino instruments.”
Wildest Dreams will be available on Nadine’s birthday on Oct. 31, click here to pre-save it.
It’s an epic Friday for Arianators with Ariana Grande’s latest music release, “positions.” The music video starred Grande as the President and featured scenes of her looking like the badass girl boss she is. Prepare for meetings at the White House, sitting at the Oval Office, and, because she’s willing to “switch the position” for her man, looking hot cooking in the kitchen.
Grande’s sixth studio album is slated for release on Oct. 30.
K-pop boy band SEVENTEEN’s second special album is finally here. Semicolon was released on Oct. 19 with a stunning record of over a million pre-orders. The album contains six songs with the dancy “HOME;RUN” serving as the smashing title track. During the album’s online press conference, SEVENTEEN shared what they wanted to get across: “Just like the album’s title symbolizes a pause in a sentence, we wanted to convey a message that it’s OK to take a break from the everyday struggles.”
You can listen to Semicolon here.
Harry Styles has made “Golden” his fifth single off his second album Fine Line and fans are expecting a music video soon. The release of the single is teased with an update on Styles’ website doyouknowwhoyouare.com which has a simple message: You are golden. There are also reports of Harry spending time shooting in various locations in Italy with the single reportedly blasting throughout the shoot.
UK musician Griff invited Andy and James of Honne as guests for her Against the Clock YouTube series. The second episode featured BTS’ record-breaking hit, “Dynamite.” The trio had an hour to reinvent the song and make it their own, the end result is nothing short of amazing. They succeeded in giving the pop-dance track a mellow, indie vibe that showed off Honne’s signature electro-R&B tunes. Hey ARMY, why don’t you add this to your midnight playlists?
This is not a drill, there’s a new FINNEAS track! The six-time Grammy Award-winning musician, songwriter, and producer returns with a bold and fiery new song, “Can’t Wait To Be Dead.” The music video has an overlay of someone scrolling through social media and seeing crazy news go by. FINNEAS shares that the song is about his relationship with the internet. “Sometimes, the internet makes me laugh, sometimes it makes me cry, sometimes it makes me hopeful. But sometimes, it really makes me wanna be dead,” he says.
His previous track release, “What They’ll Say About Us,” finds FINNEAS putting his thoughts and observations while in lockdown into a song. It’s great to know that the global pandemic hasn’t put a damper on this man’s creativity.
Emotions fly all over the place every time Moira releases a new song. There’s happiness because it’s Moira but there’s also sadness and also ugly crying from the lyrics that hit us right in the feels. Her newest release, “Paubaya,” is no exception. Moira shares that this is the last track for her upcoming album Patawad. The lyrics tell the story of a person selflessly letting go of someone they loved only to watch them be with someone else.
“At kita naman sayong mga mata/ Kung bakit pinili mo siya/ Mahirap labanan ang tinadhana/ Pinapaubaya, ko na sakanya.”
Moira Dela Torre’s “Paubaya” simply tells us that no matter how much we love someone, at some point, maybe we were just an instrument to guide and lead them to the person they were really meant to be with.

Pretty soon people left comments of similar stories of sacrifice and heartbreak and it’s enough to tug at your heartstrings. These comments only prove that Moira has mastered the art of touching people’s lives through her music. She shows her fans that she understands what they’re going through and she wraps it up in poetic lyrics and soft vocals. When her album comes out, expect everyone to be bawling their eyes out.
