Life would be boring without the bizarre and this week’s roundup is quite strange. Yes, even more peculiar things are afoot than Presidential Spox Harry Roque and Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. declaring their affection for each other. From 10-carat diamond piercings, passing around stool samples, to a teenager emerging from a 10-month coma with no recollection of the pandemic, here are the weirdest news we’ve seen on our timelines this week.
We’ve all been there — agonizing over producing stool specimens for Annual Physical Exams, that is. But we’ve never tried to scoop some out of our friend’s sample, unlike this unnamed group of friends. Luck was not on their side, since whoever managed to drop the doo was apparently “positive [for] Ascaris lumbricoides ova,” roundworm eggs.
How do you even share stools in a public space?
If you think face tattoos are outrageous, Lil Uzi Vert’s diamond piercing blows that out of the water. The American rapper had a 10-carat pink diamond pierced in (what he hoped was) the middle of his forehead like a real-life Vision from Marvel. He posted a video of him on Instagram vibing to some tunes, forehead sparkling — “Beauty is pain.” GQ mentioned that the gem is apparently worth $24 million and that the rapper has been saving up for it for three years now.
On social media, Lil Uzi Vert’s forehead upgrade has earned more than a few eyebrow raises and a truckload of memes. Thanos coming for him seems to be the main theme.

Better remove “Watch Me (Whip/NaeNae)” from your playlists, word just got around that its singer, rapper Silento, is a murderer. On Feb. 1, news outlets reported that Silento (real name Ricky Hawk) was arrested for the murder of his cousin, Frederick Rooks, whom he shot dead on Jan. 21. He is currently detained in DeKalb County Jail and is yet to be offered bail.
And his records haven’t exactly been clean prior to this arrest. XXL Mag shares that in 2020, Hawk carried a hatchet and entered a stranger’s home while looking for his girlfriend. He has also been arrested for a domestic dispute, speeding, and reckless driving.
“Kalma lang po. Hindi ako yan,” VP Leni captioned the screenshot of the post. “Andito po ako sa opisina, wala sa Palawan. Ako na po humihingi ng paumanhin kay Rachel Alejandro.”
When asked if tall 12-year-olds should still be required booster seats, Land Transportation Office (LTO) NCR Director Clarence Guinto said that parents should probably get larger cars. “Laki-lakihan mo sasakyan mo,” were his exact words, I believe.
He did apologize for his remark afterward and clarified that those over 4’11” are exempted from using car seats.

Folks continue to question rapper Ez Mil’s track “Panalo”, which is actually a pretty cool track if you ignore the ridiculous lyrics about how he was “discriminated” for being “tisoy”. But he also spouted some historically inaccurate lyrics saying Lapu-Lapu was beheaded in Mactan. Lucky for us, Ez Mil clarified why he penned those rhymes. In an interview, he said that it was all because of “the rhyming pattern” and his dilemma of closing it with “absolute truth or… [making] people talk about it.”
“That’s me putting an exaggerated term in a ploy to drive traffic and talk. It’s inaccurate but he still died. He’s dead right now. It’s not overall factual in a way,” he said.
I ain’t tisoy! *Sinuntok yung bilao ng lumpia.*

Yumi Yoshino, 48, had a dead body frozen inside her apartment for a decade. And it wasn’t just anyone’s body — it was her mom’s. Yoshino was evicted from her apartment after several rent payment failures. The cleaner stumbled on her mom inside a freezer, hidden in the closet.
Reports say that the autopsy could not determine the exact cause and time of death, but found out that her mom was around 60 years old when she died. Yoshino told police that she hid her mom’s death because she didn’t want to move out of the house, since her mother’s name was on the lease of the apartment.
Joseph Flavill suffered a traumatic car accident in England on March 1, 2020, weeks before the global lockdown. 10 months later, he just woke up to an entirely different world. All he remembers are bustling cities, crowded bars and restaurants, and a world where people were free to hug everyone. Now his family is looking for ways to tell him about the pandemic and how, due to health protocols and him catching COVID while in a coma, he was alone in the hospital most of the time. His friends and family have started a website for fundraising and sharing stories and messages for him to watch.

Kyzia spends most of her time capturing the world around her through photos, paragraphs, and playlists. She is constantly on the hunt for the perfect chocolate chip cookie, and a great paperback thriller to pair with it.
