At this point of quarantine season 2, you might have familiarized yourself with Kwarto Princesa, Laba-Boracay, Baño City, CR-gao, and Kama-rines Norte all too well. You might have also discovered the mystery Tupperware products hidden by your mom before you reach a full stop and ponder—what is there left to do that you haven’t done yet in your house?
It’s a good thing various Facebook groups about communities bonded by a common obsession for turning homes into sanctuaries have sprouted like mushrooms. The most popular is Home Buddies, which now has over 800,000 members where people openly post glow-ups of their houses as well as inquiries on how to incorporate certain feels such as “tropical” and “rustic”—the most sought-after house vibes these days.
As the famous adage goes, “give a man a fish, you feed him for a day; teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.” The same is true for us during this quarantine: give this bored person a meme, he’ll laugh for a day; but invite him to join a Facebook group with like-minded, creative individuals, he might end up turning all his furniture into wood.
And since we’re at the height of this “wood revolution,” let’s take a look at some of the items you didn’t know also look good in wood!
NGL, this refrigerator actually looks pretty nice. However, we can’t help but think that every time you’d open it, it’s like opening a portal to Narnia or a treasure chest from your lola in the 1920s.
Don’t you just love wooden propellers? Some Home Buddies members have Asahi-fied their regular fans with wooden stickers, but this version on the right looks like it could be used for firewood. But hey, we do love upcycling!
If you’re still not satisfied with adding natural vibes to your kitchen and living room, bring it into the bathroom! It always pays to smell the refreshing scent of bathroom deodorizer, but putting wood stickers on its case just elevates the whole *~bathroom experience~*.
Wood just makes everything classier. You’d call the image on the left a closet, but with the wooden sticker, di na siya closet, “wardrobe” na siya. What a glow-up!
One netizen even went as far as dropping a personal message to Orocan to suggest releasing a new collection of plastic closets that already has a wood design to spare the customers the effort of applying wood stickers.
Rice cookers aren’t exactly the most aesthetically pleasing kitchen appliances, but this can be easily remedied with — you guessed it — wood stickers.
A wood remote control? Why not??
Oo, lahat na lang. #TeamKahoy4Eva
Got a secret diary? Make it impossible to find by camouflaging it on another wood sticker-ed object in your home. At this point, that could be anywhere.
A lot of people have been caught up in this wood obsession. Prevention is still better than cure.
