You’ve probably heard the news: Metro Manila will be under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from August 6 to 20. The COVID-19 Delta variant is wreaking havoc across the country and the world, an ECQ can help decongest hospitals and prevent the disease from spreading further. An ECQ means no one is allowed outside for non-essential business and curfew will also be strictly implemented. We’re stuck at home — again. To keep your mind off the stressful situation and the fact that we’re on house arrest for the nth time, here are some fun and educational ECQ Season 3 activities you can do at home.
Fans of the hit South Korean zombie TV series Kingdom will be thrilled to know there’s an escape room that will suit their fancy. Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has teamed up with Mystery Manila to create a specially themed virtual escape room. It can transport you to a world of unnatural plagues, political conspiracies, and all kinds of chaos found in the award-winning show.
Smart Signature subscribers can exclusively experience the nerve-wracking Kingdom-inspired virtual escape room starting July 31 by visiting Smartnetflix.mysterymanila.com.
While waiting for another season, you can watch the spin-off, Kingdom: Ashin of the North, on Netflix. And in case you don’t have Netflix (a handy thing in the middle of ECQ), you can sign up for a Smart Signature SIM-Only Plan that comes with a monthly Netflix Mobile Plan subscription. Make good use of your free time (if you have any) by studying online. Thank technology that whatever your interest is, there’s an online course for that. Check out learning sites and apps like Coursera, Udemy, Skillshare, and even TESDA online courses. These have cheap classes and even free ones. Go ahead and learn a new skill and language, or brush up on your knowledge about any of your interests.
Now is the perfect time to pay attention to your neglected pile of books. Two weeks cooped up at home gives you a lot of free time on your hands. And even if you don’t have the cash to spare for new books, you can download free PDF versions here.
Maybe you’re a go-getter and you’ll be damned if you stay put for two weeks. Sure, you’ve got more time without commutes but you can spend all that free time earning extra. Check out these Facebook groups that can help you out. Go get ’em!
You don’t need to look for work or pressure yourself to find freelance gigs with the time you spend at home. If you’re feeling a little burnt out, you can spend most of your time doing what you love. Streaming sites like Netflix or iQiyi have tons of new series and movies for you to watch. You can even continue the TV shows you set aside to focus on work.
We know, we know, every other person out there would recommend you start a new hobby if you’re bored. But it’s really a good option if you find yourself uninterested in doing anything else. Painting by numbers can relax you, diamond painting can challenge you, knitting and crocheting are so fulfilling when you’ve got the finished product, and cooking will have you trying new things. Try spending time doing these at least 20 minutes a day. After this ECQ, you’ll have formed a hobby.
Find out why people are addicted to video games — but don’t get too addicted. We’re living in a digital age where video games might just be at it’s prime. Genshin Impact, Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, Minecraft, Little Nightmares, Resident Evil Village, and more are worth your hard-earned money. Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!
Our parents would agree that being stuck at home is far from boring. There must be an endless list of things to do in the house! Take this as your opportunity to KonMari your home and throw away stuff you haven’t used for years. BTW, Marie Kondo has an upcoming new series on Netflix come August 31 — Sparking Joy. You might want to binge it while cleaning your home. Or you can start a mini DIY project to make your space even more aesthetic. Get lots of ideas from Pinterest or even community groups on Facebook like Home Buddies.
