Vice President Leni Robredo has got her hands full at the moment with vice president duties and planning her presidential campaign but she still found time to visit Mimiyuuuh. And she didn’t just drop by, she decided to teach everyone how to make essential lugaw (rice porridge) plus have an enjoyable Q&A that was anything but political. What life lessons did we learn from VP Leni aside from how to make a delish pot of lugaw?

Mimiyuuuh went right ahead and asked the nation’s vice president how he could find a jowa in the middle of the pandemic. TBH, a question most of us whisper into the void late at night. VP Leni says don’t be consumed in finding love, let love find you. Be patient and take your time and your patience is sure to land you the right person. Because if it’s for you, it will come to you. VP Leni adds that being too focused on having a relationship will cloud your judgment which might make you fall for the wrong person.
It’s okay not to be okay. VP Leni understands what it’s like to ride the emotional rollercoaster of good and bad days — it happens to the best of us. But like Mimiyuuuh helpfully observed, you’ll appreciate life’s happiness when you’ve been through the sad parts too. The good times are much more enjoyable, worth it, and rewarding after going through life’s hardships.
If you pull a face that closely resembles Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” painting every time your credit card bill arrives, you need VP Leni’s wisdom. Don’t use your credit card for cravings and luxuries, consider only using it to pay your bills. Use cash or your debit card for shopping so you’re aware of your limit. Having a credit card can make you feel like you’ve got so much money to spend when in reality, every swipe of that card may be using money you don’t have, resulting in debt. Yikes!
Mimiyuuuh gave VP Leni a question that might hit closer to home for so many young professionals. How should one deal with a “quarter-life crisis”? That’s typically the point in a person’s life where they’re questioning the direction of their life while being overwhelmed with the demands of the present. Well, VP Leni admits she never had that phase (she was leading a busy but purposeful life at a young age!), it’s normal for anyone. However, she advised those experiencing this crisis to remember that they have the power to make a change in their lives. It’s a matter of perspective. Lying down and moping, waiting for other people to fix your problems isn’t going to help you get to where you want to be.
Happiness is relative but for VP Leni, it’s when she gets to flip bad situations to get better outcomes. She also reminded Mimiyuuuh and the viewers that happiness is being contented with what you have. Mimi, for example, was given the chance to help his family financially, provide a better home, and raise their quality of living. If you’ve got food on the table and loved ones in good health, that’s enough to make you happy.
VP Leni knows all about negativity and hate, it has been thrown her way thousands of times before. But she still smiles and soldiers on and even shares with us her secret: don’t lose sleep over it. It’s not worth your time to dwell over other people’s negative assumptions of you. However, VP Leni also shared how she and her team deal with fake news and rumors, an important thing in politics. They learned that they should address these rumors and refute them to help people know the truth. It’s possible to do that without dwelling too much on the negativity.
It’s refreshing to see VP Leni in a relaxed setting and interacting with an influencer at that. Aside from her lugaw cooking tips (“brown” the chicken before you add the malagkit rice, kids!) and words of wisdom, we did find out a few interesting facts about her. ICYDK, she’s a Taurus which, according to Mimiyuuuh (your regular astrology-loving millennial), means our VP is “stubborn but down to earth.” VP Leni herself said that she’s a “stereotype” of a Taurus. Many will also relate to VP Leni’s celebrity crush — Piolo Pascual himself.
She met her late husband Jesse Robredo when she was 21 years old and got married to him the year after. VP Leni says when she met him, she immediately felt that he was the one for her. To this, and on behalf of all the viewers, Mimiyuuuh said “Sana all!!!”
