It’s official — Justin Bieber is performing in Manila after 11 long years for the Asian leg of his Justice World Tour. The good news? What a reunion this would be for Filipino fans! The bad news? The venue is a bit questionable according to enraged Beliebers online. Here’s why.

Mark your calendars, Beliebers. JB is set to rock your world on October 29, 2022, Saturday, at 8 PM in Manila. This will be the Canadian singer’s second time in the country, the first being his My World Tour back in 2011. Remember him singing his hits “U Smile,” “One Less Lonely Girl,” and “Baby” with that pre-pubescent voice? In 2017, Bieber was set for his second concert in the Philippines, this time for his Purpose Tour. However, as disappointed Pinoy Beliebers all know, that tour was cut short for the pop star to “rest and relax.”
The concert will be held at the CCP Open Grounds in Pasay City. It’s located beside the Philippine International Convention Center and in front of the Manila Film Center. And yep, as the name suggests, it’s open, much to the disappointment of Beliebers. Many are voicing their complaints about the venue not being height-friendly. If it were MOA Arena or the Philippine Arena, concert-goers would have a better view of the artist thanks to the elevated seats.
Vertically challenged fans might have a tough time.
Beliebers were also not satisfied that JB seems to have been given a venue that’s seemingly not meant for an international pop star. “Filipino Beliebers can [sell] out MOA Arena and PH Arena even with higher prices,” one fan wrote on Twitter. “Justin Bieber is not some up-and-coming artist for f***’s sake.”
Speaking of other artists, the CCP Open Grounds is also where Filipino folk band Ben&Ben will hold their send-off concert in September before going on a world tour.
Petitions to change the venue flooded the comments section of the announcement post.
Fans are confident they can sell out the concert even if it was held at the Philippine Arena.
Are Vice President Leni Robredo’s rally venues bigger?
Beliebers only want one thing: Not to disappoint their favorite artist again. His 2011 concert was actually held at another open grounds venue — MOA Concert Grounds. During the concert, Bieber commented that he didn’t get to see anyone beyond the VIP section.
“If you guys were there during his concert in MOA Grounds, he said WE WERE SO LAME!” one fan lamented on Facebook. “Cause he cannot see the people jumping and singing thru VIP section. He deserves better! If it happens again, it might be the last concert of Bieber here in the Philippines. Let’s learn from the last concert.”
“Ampanget ng venue niyo,” another enraged Belieber tweeted. “Sinong pala desisyon pumili neto???? Isang dekada mahigit nag-hintay mga fans para makita siya ulit mag-perform yet y’all dropped the ball on not only the announcement but also the venue.”
Many are saying they might consider being #TeamLabas during the concert. A lot of Filipinos go for this option when they don’t have a budget for the tickets. One Direction’s On the Road Again tour in 2015 and Coldplay’s A Head Full of Dreams tour in 2017 were both held at the MOA Concert Grounds. But even though they didn’t get to see their favorites up close, fans scattered outside the venue still got to hear the artists and enjoy the experience.
