The explosive success of the global hit zombie horror K-series All Of Us Are Dead has many viewers eagerly waiting for the next installment, and Netflix has finally confirmed the second season. While we don’t have a lot of details about the upcoming installment yet, we do know that four actors are coming back: Park Ji-hu, Yoon Chan-young, Cho Yi-hyun, and Lomon. Here are some of the most burning questions we’re hoping would be answered in the second season of All Of Us Are Dead.
Warning: Some spoilers ahead!
Since Yoon Chan-young, the actor who plays Cheong-san, is confirmed to come back in the second season, we know that Cheong-san is alive somehow (or at least as a hambie or zombie?). Or maybe there’ll be a doppelganger scenario; we don’t know yet. All we know is that the actor is coming back. So what about Gwi-nam? There is no news yet if actor Yoo In-soo is joining the second season, but it might not be too far-fetched to see him again, if Cheong-san is coming back.
The last we saw of Eun-ji, the bullied student turned into a hambie, she was in the military camp. Eun-ji was caught as an asymptomatic case and held in custody. But we never saw what happened to her after the time skip in the final episode. So the next question is…
The military and government officials were able to get their hands on the journals of scientist Lee Byeong-chan, the creator of the so-called Jonas virus that led to the apocalypse. They used it to try to find a cure and identify who is asymptomatic or not, and they even have a zombie and hambie Eun-ji in their custody. So are they using these to create and weaponize their own hambies?
Considering the many variants of the zombies, it is clear that there’s more to this virus than meets the eye. How exactly did it evolve? What are the specific requirements in a human for it to evolve into a hambie variant as it did with Nam-ra, Gwi-nam, and Eun-ji? Will it evolve even more in the future?
In the final episode, Nam-ra stayed behind in zombie-infested Hyo-san. When On-jo and the five other surviving students visited her, Nam-ra told them that she can’t go with them, because she has to look after others like her. Who are these others? Is Cheong-san one of them?
The creator of the Jonas virus got bitten by several zombies while he was trying to get out of the police station. He stayed behind to let the detective Jae-ik escape. Some fans noticed that he was walking differently at the end of Season 1 Episode 4. So now, the question is: Did he become a hambie or is he simply just a zombie-like the others? A few fans have even theorized that he has been a hambie all this time.
While we definitely rooted for the budding couples in the first season, we didn’t really get a happy ending for them. When we finished the first season, Cheong-san had left On-jo and the rest of the group to save them, while Nam-ra stayed behind due to her hambie nature. But now we’ve confirmed that the actors of the budding couples are coming back. Are they also getting back together in the story? And what about Ha-ri and Mi-jin — will something ever happen there?
Towards the end of the first season, we saw the government officials studying the zombies and one hambie in what seems to be an effort to find a cure. Unfortunately, we never actually see what they do to them when we see the time skip. Will they use their resources to make a cure? Or are all of them really dead?
