These 8 Young Stars Raised By Taylor Swift’s Music Are Taking Over the Industry

Jul 28, 2022   •   Kimberly Hipolito

“All Too Well (Ten Minute Version)” just got nominated for the Video of the Year at the VMAs, and none of us are surprised. After all, it’s Taylor Swift’s world, and we’re just living in it.

While we’re waiting for Taytay’s next re-recording (or another surprise album? or a tour? WHO KNOWS?), a new pack of young musicians are rising. And they’re proud to say that they grew up with her music! You can tell by how their songs sound and how they write their lyrics.

These artists are trying to find a place in this world and we can’t wait to see the magic they’re about to make. (Get that reference? 👀) Here are some Swifties who are following in her footsteps. Taylor loves them and you should give them a listen!

Olivia Rodrigo

She needs no introduction. At 19, Olivia already has three Grammy awards! Olivia’s 2021 hit “driver’s license”, got the whole world mad. Her debut album, SOUR, broke records after records. The true Swiftie that she is, she interpolated reputation’s closing track, “New Year’s Day” in her song “1 step forward, 3 steps back”. And she also gave credits to Taylor in her hit single, “deja vu”. It’s literally “Cruel Summer”’s twin.

Conan Gray

Conan is creating the best pop songs and you should check it out. You can definitely tell that he’s a Swiftie through his music. His songs have got Speak Now’s storytelling but they sound like they’re from 1989! His newest album Superache will literally give you chills.

Taylor got OBSESSED with his album, Kid Krow!

Sabrina Carpenter

She’s rumored to be the blonde girl from Olivia’s “driver’s license”. But even before that teenage drama, Sabrina was already a Swiftie. At such a young age, she covered some of Taylor’s hits like “Safe and Sound” and “Picture to Burn”. She recently dropped her new album called emails i can’t send and it’s heartbreakingly good!

Girl in Red

This indie-pop artist is a queer icon. Her hit songs “I Wanna Be Your Girlfriend” and “We Fell in Love in October” were certified gold by the RIAA. Her debut album, If I Could Make It Go Quiet, is critically and commercially successful. It even received three Norwegian Grammy Awards. And Blondie has this ON REPEAT!

Blondie called her album SPECTACULAR.

Maisie Peters

Maisie is the singer-songwriter behind the 2021 hit song, “Psycho”. She is under Gingerbread Man Records by Ed Sheeran. Her recent album, You Signed Up For This is a bop! From the vocals to the melodies, everything sounds so GOOD. And her “betty” cover received praise from Blondie herself.

Taylor called her ‘angel face’.

Gracie Abrams

This girl grew up with Taylor Swift’s music. She is a singer-songwriter who loves putting out the most painful songs in the world like “I miss you, I’m sorry”. Her latest album, This Is What It Feels Like is angelic! She also loves doing covers of TS songs like “my tears ricochet”.

Clairo

Clairo started recording covers when she was only thirteen. She rose to prominence when the music video of her lo-fi single “Pretty Girl” went viral in 2017. Her second album, Sling, debuted in the Top 20 of the US Billboard last year. She won Best New Act at the NME Awards in 2020 and met Taylor there! And yes, she cried uncontrollably.

Griff

This 21-year-old was named the Rising Star at the 2021 Brit Awards becoming one of its youngest winners. Her debut mixtape One Foot in Front of the Other is commercially and critically acclaimed. Taylor LOVED her song “Shade of Yellow” and even told her fans to stream this “unique, adventurous, and brilliant” artist.

Kim has an INFP personality type, one of the rarest across the population. She is an Aries who lives through humor and Marvel references. If not writing (or pretending to do so), she’s dissecting every Taylor Swift song or rewatching her favorite series.
