The universe of Netflix and Shondaland series Bridgerton has captivated audiences time and time again with their period costumes, romantic affairs, and dashing heroes. In the spin-off Queen Charlotte, the newest heartthrob that’s making the internet swoon is Corey Mylchreest, who plays young King George.
The exact day hasn’t been publicized yet, but he was born in May 1998 in London. But we do know that he’s a Taurus!
For those of you who want to imagine how you’ll look standing next to the actor, he’s 6 feet tall, according to his university profile.
He pursued a degree in acting at the well-known university Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and graduated last 2020. Fellow alumni include notable names such as Anthony Hopkins, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Tobias Menzes, Matthew Rhys, and even a Bridgerton — specifically Benedict Bridgerton.
He made his TV debut on another Netflix show: Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman, where he played Adonis in the first episode. Before that, he was cast in supporting roles in open-air stage plays of Shakespearean works Romeo and Juliet (as Tybalt) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (as Demetrius). Queen Charlotte gave him his first lead role, but we’re sure it won’t be the last.
According to his fellow cast members, he’s the actor who gets into his role the most among them. In his defense, he says he “just really prioritize[s his] work.”
To prepare for a role, the young actor creates a playlist. He told Town and Country he felt overwhelmed at the start, like “a bit of a deer in the headlights”, but what helped him was putting on a ring with George’s initials on it and listening to one of the theme songs of Succession.
While preparing for the role, he also delved into the 20,000 pages of personal diaries, journals, and letters of the late king. Corey didn’t just read them — he also brought out the whole shebang of cork boards, post-its, and notepads, putting them up around his room.
According to the actor’s mother, Corey also took a lot of notes when he was younger. “She reminded me that when I was about five, I would go around slapping Post-it notes on the walls that would say, ‘I will be a film director’ or ‘I will be a film actor,’” Corey told Town and Country. “So, I invented visualization for myself at a very young age.”
Corey even claims he’s “the biggest Harry Potter fan in the world.” And he even sorted the young King George into Hufflepuff, thanks to the character’s “loyal and caring” personality.
Sorry to all Bridgerton fangirls! But this cutie is already taken.
Corey is rather private about his personal life, but he did mention his girlfriend in previous interviews. In fact, Corey said that he received the news that he got the role of King George while he was with his girlfriend at her place.
He also shared that he binged the previous Bridgerton seasons with his girlfriend in a red-carpet interview with Extra.
