Yes, a 12-year-old is said to be “retiring.” While most of us wage earners toil day and night to enjoy the ideal retirement, a young girl named Pixie Curtis is retiring 50 years early. She celebrated both her 12th birthday and retirement with a lavish party at Sydney’s five-star Crown Hotel.
Pixie Curtis is a young Australian entrepreneur and social media personality. When she was only a baby, her mother launched a business under Pixie’s name selling bows and other hair accessories called Pixie’s Bows. The brand has been used by the likes of famous kids Suri Cruise (daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise) and North West (daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West).
During the lockdown, Pixie found her calling in the toy business, and she co-founded Pixie’s Fidgets with her mother. The main product of Pixie’s Fidgets are fidget spinners, which have been designed to help children struggling with short attention span to focus and channel their energy positively.
Pixie’s Fidgets reportedly earned AUD 200,000 (or about PHP 7.38 million) in its first month alone. Since she found success with her businesses, Pixie has been able to enjoy luxurious items and experiences, including a Mercedes Benz Gl, worth AUD 270,000 (or about PHP 9.97 million) even if she can’t drive it herself yet.
Pixie and her family are moving to Singapore to spend more time with their father. According to her mother, Pixie and her 9-year-old brother Hunter will also be focusing on education and sports more.
Before you start beating yourself up for not having a fortune at this point in your life, we should note that Pixie is the daughter of socialite and businesswoman Roxy Jacenko, who founded a PR firm, and former investment banker Oliver Curtis, who spent a year behind bars for insider trading in Australia and now works in Singapore. Not saying that Pixie didn’t work hard, but we guess one can retire as early as they want if they have the fallback of their trust funds and they have parents who can kickstart a business for them even as babies.
