Michael V has done it again and by ‘it’ we mean ‘dropped another spoof banger’ that’s sure to replace your last song syndrome (LSS). This time, he took Lola Amour’s trending track ‘Raining in Manila’ and spun it into a hilarious but socially relevant song titled ‘Waiting Here sa Pila.’ It’s the latest addition to the veteran comedian’s long list of song parodies that are always comedy gold.

‘Waiting Here sa Pila’ by Lolo Kanor

‘Waiting Here sa Pila’ aired on Bubble Gang last Sunday and immediately took off online. Written, performed, and directed by Michael V, the song is yet another masterpiece that successfully combines Pinoy wit and humor with a blatant call-out.

Instead of the OG Lola Amour lyrics about the sadness of missing someone, ‘Waiting Here sa Pila’ is an ode to inflation and how we respond to it. Rockstar Michael V croons about Pinoys creating long lines in coffee shops despite having a salary that won’t justify buying overpriced coffee. It’s the call out of the century and it left us with guilty smiles.

It starts with the refrain that didn’t spare anyone:

Tigilan mo na ang gastos mo sa kape
Panay pa-sosyal pero “purita” pa rin
Nakatambak ang bayarin

And continued on to the chorus that obliterated those guilty:

You’ve been waiting here sa pila para sa isang kape
Ba’t ang tyaga ninyo sa pila diba mahal na ang kape?
(Ang hirap lang hindi ka nakikinig)
‘Di ba wala na kayong pera
‘E ba’t ka pa bumibili?
Ang kapal talaga ng mukha mo, oh!
Sinong niloloko mo?

‘Waiting Here sa Pila’ is even complete with a dance number — that’s how you know Michael V put his whole heart and soul into creating an entertaining call-out that uses our LSS against us. But we’re not complaining. It’s clever and catchy!

Lola Amour reacts to Michael V’s parody

As of writing, Michael V’s eargasmic spoof has reached 3.9 million views on Facebook, YouTube, Tiktok, Instagram, and X combined. It even reached the OG singers, Lola Amour themselves!

Lola Amour’s official Facebook page even left a comment on Waiting Here sa Pila’s post: “HAHA WAITING HERE SA PILA. Solid sir Salamat po!!!”
