8 Signs na Nakakaluwag-Luwag Ka na sa Buhay

Jul 18, 2024   •   Edgardo Toledo

We all want a comfortable life. Our idea of what is comfortable may look different for everyone, but for many Pinoys, climbing the economic ladder feels nearly impossible. This is why the smallest life wins can feel like striking gold. They remind us that progress is still progress, no matter how slow. Take your cue from these Pinoy Redditors, who were talking about when they realized they had somehow “made it”.

You can splurge as you please

We’ve all been there at one point—reaching for a beautiful item and reluctantly putting it back on the shelf because it’s too pricey. But the universe has its way of rewarding your hard work. If you can now put everything on the cart like a boss, congratulations. You’ve earned every bit of that retail therapy.

You have the budget for health check-ups or emergencies

The sad reality is that most Pinoys can’t afford good healthcare. Having enough money to cover essential health check-ups or treatments shouldn’t be a luxury, but it sure feels like it. So when you can finally afford regular checkups, it can be a massive relief because it means fewer sleepless nights worrying about unexpected emergencies.

You no longer calculate everything

From commuting expenses to random brunch with friends, you had a calculator to ensure you stay within your budget. Even buying your comfort food feels too much. Having the luxury of not stressing over every little expense is pure bliss.

Bills don’t make you anxious anymore

How can we forget our bill due dates, or as adulting warriors affectionately call them, Judith? They never fail to keep us on our toes. If you can pay them without breaking into a cold sweat, you’re not just winning at adulting—you’re killing it.

You can treat your loved ones

Sharing is caring, and having your family enjoy the fruits of your hard work is beyond fulfilling. Gone are the days when buying specialty cakes or going on out-of-town trips were only reserved for special occasions. Every day is an opportunity to create joyful memories with your loved ones because money is no longer an issue.

You’re debt-free

Falling into debt feels inevitable for many Pinoys. And only a few escape with their financial health and sanity intact. Once your bank account has returned to its glorious debt-free state, that’s a huge weight off your shoulders.

You have more than enough savings

As much as we want a dedicated savings fund, building one is tricky when life throws you lemons and all. But hopefully, at some point, you eventually outgrow irresponsible spending habits or low-paying jobs. Before you know it, you have more than enough savings to live life on your own terms.

You’re happy

Money can’t buy happiness? Pfft! That only applies to those born with a silver spoon in their mouth. For the rest of us, money can mean freedom, opportunities, and a better quality of life. We all deserve that.
