Good news for those planning a brunch with their crew or craving late-night chill around Quezon City. Dear Darling, a cozy new restaurant in Citigold Plaza, Katipunan, is the new spot that’s set to be a barkada favorite. The charming two-story restaurant has a cafe downstairs for daytime sites and a cocktail bar upstairs for after-hours fun. But it’s not only the location and the peaceful vibe that will keep you coming back: Dear Darling also boasts affordable comfort food, signature drinks, and a remote work-friendly atmosphere.
Dear Darling’s ground floor cafe is open from 9 AM to 12 AM. It’s a cozy haven filled with a charming mix-and-match of colorful tables and chairs. For those up for a late-night wind-down, the second floor, which houses the cocktail bar and a private room, is open from 5 PM onwards. Dear Darling isn’t strict about when the drinks start flowing, though. So, whether you’re down for morning mimosas, a midday mocktail, or a sunset cocktail, they’ve got you covered.
But why the adorable name? In part, it’s a heartfelt tribute inspired by the term of endearment shared by Managing Partner Rainbow Sanchez‘s parents. But Dear Darling is also a love letter to everyone who walks through its doors. It’s meant to be a place where friends, family, and even strangers can reconnect over good food, drinks, and shared moments.
“In terms of the name, we chose a personal one because we are treating the holistic service as our love letter to our guests,” Wilson Co, Dear Darling President & Managing Partner (Business Development and Operations), further explained. “This letter is our expression of art and passion in the form of food, drinks, and overall experience in Dear Darling. Dining with us should have the experience of warmth and comfort that reminds you of a meal prepared by your mother on Saturdays.”
Speaking of comfort meals, deciding where to start at Dear Darling is a delightful dilemma. For a crispy kick-off, the Potato Croquettes (P380) is a must-try starter. These classic potato balls are crispy on the outside and stuffed with a fluffy and creamy core of mozzarella and potato cheese.
For a heartier brunch, you can never go wrong with the Monte Cristo (P380), Dear Darling’s version of the French croque monsieur. Ham and cheese are sandwiched between two slices of French toast, complemented by homemade strawberry jam, and served with a side of fries.
Pasta lovers will be smitten by the Ravioli with Vodka Sauce (P380). Made in-house, from pasta to sauce, this dish is a testament to Dear Darling’s commitment to quality. The creamy vodka tomato sauce is the perfect foil for the rich, cheesy ravioli.
Beyond these standouts, the Mango Salad with Candied Nuts (P380), Tomato Soup with Cheese Dumplings (P230), Smothered Pork Chop (P380), and Salmon Nori (P680) are equally tempting options to explore.
Beyond delicious meals, their beverage menu confirms Dear Darling as a complete sensory experience. It caters to both caffeine connoisseurs and cocktail enthusiasts.
Coffee lovers are in for a treat with classic brews and innovative concoctions like Spanish Latte (P180/P200), Orange Coffee (P180), and Coconut Vanilla Latte (P180/P200), all made with Brazil Cerrado Single Origin coffee beans. The Orange Coffee, in particular, is unlike any caffeinated beverage you’ll ever have. It’s a harmonious blend of espresso, orange, and egg white — a surprising standout.
For those who prefer non-coffee options, Milkshakes (P180), Milk Chocolate (P160/P180), Horchata (P180), Chai Latte (P180/P200), and Matcha Latte (P180/P200) offer delightful alternatives.
As the sun sets, Dear Darling transforms into a vibrant cocktail bar. Classic cocktails such as Aperol Spritz (P350), Amaretto Sour (P350), and Gin & Tonic (starts at P300), as well as wines and hard liquor, share the spotlight with the restaurant’s signature creations.
Inspired by album titles, the Good Vibes Only menu, an album-themed collection, features 11 cocktails and 2 mocktails. The top hits include Dancing in the Moonlight (P350), a sparkling signature cocktail with raspberry and lychee, subtly soured by champagne acid, and garnished with creme de violette vodka, and Sweet Disposition (P350), a spirit-forward cocktail with a base of Blanco tequila with Cointreau, crème a de cassis and lemon, garnished with lemon peel, and topped with grapes and strawberry caviar.
Aside from its fantastic menu of comfort food and beverages, what sets Dear Darling apart from all the other restaurants and cafes that crop up in the metro is its colorful interiors, which create an inviting atmosphere without sacrificing elegance. Minimalist cafes are cool and all, but every once in a while, a bold, colorful design is just what you need to refresh your senses.
Beyond the stunning aesthetics, Dear Darling is committed to fostering a sense of community. With regular events like trivia nights and DJ sets, there’s always something happening. Plus, the option to book the entire second floor for private gatherings makes it perfect for intimate celebrations. Dear Darling is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience. With its vibrant atmosphere, delectable cuisine, and a strong sense of community, this Katipunan gem is guaranteed to become a new local favorite.
