GUTS Tour Manila: 8 Essentials to Bring for First-Timers at the Philippine Arena

Oct 3, 2024   •   Nicole Thomas

The Philippine Arena in Bulacan is quickly becoming the go-to for concerts, music festivals, and sporting events now that live shows are back in full swing. With space for over 55,000 people, it’s recognized as the largest indoor stadium in the world. Big names like Katy Perry, SEVENTEEN, Harry Styles, Coldplay, and Bruno Mars have all rocked the stage here, and now it’s Olivia Rodrigo’s turn for her GUTS: World Tour in Manila on October 5. If you’re a first-timer, here are eight essentials you should bring to the GUTS Tour to make the most of your experience!

Mini portable fan

It can get unbearably hot at the Philippine Arena, especially outside while waiting in line. With thousands of cheering fans and energetic performances inside, the temperature only worsens. A handheld, rechargeable fan is a lifesaver, giving you that much-needed cool breeze when the heat becomes too much.

Granola bars

Make sure to grab a heavy breakfast before heading to the Philippine Arena to avoid hangry spells and the occasional fainting in the queue. Since they allow outside food or drinks, bring your snacks and eat them before entering the venue. We highly recommend picking up a granola bar at 7/11 for an easy snack to keep your energy up while waiting!

A retouch kit

Concerts can get intense with the heat, long lines, and excitement, so make sure your makeup holds up! To be extra sure, bring a retouch kit! Pack a 2-in-1 sunscreen and primer to protect your skin from UV rays (even indoors), a compact mirror, face powder or oil blotting sheets, and lip balm to help keep you looking fresh for all those selfies and Instagram stories!

Power bank

Ever step outside, and your phone’s already at 10%? Same here. You shouldn’t risk a concert without a backup, even a solid battery. Imagine your phone dying right as Olivia’s performing your favorite song—bad idea, right? What a nightmare! Plus, you’ll need it to post that perfect video to your Instagram stories. A portable charger is a must, especially if you’re hanging out at the venue early. Keep your phone at 100% so you’re ready for the show and all those posts!

Mini first aid kit

Feeling unwell at a concert is a major vibe killer, especially when you’ve been waiting so long for the day you can hear your favorite artist live. So, pack your mini first-aid kit with a few essentials like band-aids and antiseptic wipes in case you need them. It’s always better to be prepared for any minor mishaps so you can focus on enjoying the show!

Comfy shoes

Concerts usually mean hours of standing, so comfortable shoes are a must. Heels are cute but they can also hurt after hours of standing and jumping around. Chunky sneakers or boots with gel or memory foam soles are great options to keep your feet comfy. It’s safer to skip sandals or open-toed shoes to avoid getting your feet stepped on!

Pocket money

The Philippine Arena is notorious for having spotty signal, so make sure you bring cash to pay for your snacks and drinks in case your GCash transaction won’t go through. And while concert merch will definitely be tempting, don’t stress if it’s out of your budget—your concert experience will still be epic, even without official merchandise!

Small bag

Before picking out your cutesy concert bag, keep the 12×12-inch size limit in mind. Large bags are not allowed for security reasons, so stick to ones that are much more compact and easy to carry, like a UNIQLO dumpling bag. When it comes to concert essentials, factor in the venue, your ticket area, and your mode of transportation when choosing what to bring!

See you on October 5, Livies!
