Everyone’s OG K-drama oppa has returned to Manila for a fanmeeting we won’t ever forget! Actor Lee Minho recently held a fanmeeting event called “Minhoverse” — presented by PULP Live World — to meet his Filipino Minoz (his fans’ nickname). It was definitely a night filled with moments that fans (including us!) will hold in their hearts forever, and here are just 8 of our favorites:
Dressed in a simple yet elegant white dress shirt and black dress pants, Lee Minho opened the show with his song “I Love You”, and it was a shot straight to the hearts of each Minoz in the crowd. Throughout the two-hour show, the actor serenaded the crowd with his original songs, ensuring the kilig stayed sky-high.
A curious cat, Minho learned about the phrase “mahal ko kayo” during his previous visits, and when he was taught to say “mahal kita” last Saturday night, he had to ask: what’s the difference between “mahal kita” and “mahal ko kayo”? Host Kring Kim explained that the former is between two people, while the latter is between one person and a group of people, like the crowd.
Later, after watching clips from his previous dramas, Minho also asked how he could say “I’ll take you home” in Filipino, prompting screams all around MOA Arena. Blindsided, host Kring Kim took a while to teach him the translation, but thanks to her efforts, Minho melted Minoz’s hearts after saying: “Uwi kita.”
During one of the interview segments, Minho shared that upon arriving in the Philippines, he slept for 15 hours straight, which made him think that life here suited him. The screaming of the crowd conveyed how happy Minoz were to hear he was comfortable in the Philippines.
In another interview segment, a Minoz asked if Minho could share his MBTI by displaying various facial expressions. Though he had a difficult time with a few, his fans were happy to see his ENTP personality in action. Minho also shared that he was interested to learn that MBTI was a big thing in the Philippines, just as it is in South Korea.
At one point, after reminiscing about his many, many acting projects, Minho had to ask his fans if they remembered if his Boys Over Flowers character Gu Junpyo ended up marrying his love interest Geum Jandi. Laughing, he admitted he no longer remembers what happened after the proposal scene that was just shown onscreen. Well, we get you, Minho — it’s been a while, and you’ve had a lot of projects since that iconic adaptation!
When asked whose confession is his favorite among Gong Ryong’s (When The Stars Gossip), Kim Tan’s (The Heirs), and Gu Junpyo’s (Boys Over Flowers), Minho’s answer was immediate: Kim Tan! He said he appreciated how Kim Tan’s sincere confession is a good balance between Gong Ryong’s mature and careful confession and Gu Junpyo’s confident and public confession.
During the games segment, three lucky fans had the chance to get up close and a little competitive with Minho himself. Two fans played the local game tumbang preso with him, where a curious Minho even asked why they had to throw rubber slippers when he could throw the shoes he was wearing.
Meanwhile, one fan played the balloon popping game with Minho, where they had to pop the most balloons with their bodies. They were able to pop four balloons together, but according to Minho, he was able to pop eight to ten balloons at other stops.
All three fans also got a hug from Minho and even a personalized gift to take home as a souvenir!
As Minho sang “Always” as his final song for his fans, the Minhoverse crowd lit up the MOA Arena with the lights from their phones, making Minho and Minoz shine even brighter together. Before leaving the stage, Minho thanked his fans wholeheartedly: “Please be healthy and happy until we see each other again.” And we’re sure all Minoz hope that next time will be soon!
