Good news! According to PhilHealth Circular 2025-0013, PhilHealth members can soon avail of up to ₱20,000 worth of outpatient medicines every year under the newly expanded Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment (PhilHealth GAMOT) program. This benefit is part of the broader PhilHealth YAKAP Program, designed to make healthcare more affordable and accessible.
Here’s everything you need to know about getting your free meds:
Every registered PhilHealth member can claim up to ₱20,000 annually for outpatient medicines. That’s a big relief for those who rely on daily maintenance meds.
PhilHealth’s old Konsulta package only covered 21 free medicines. With GAMOT, that’s now 75 essential drugs for common and chronic conditions, including:
To avail, members must first register with a PhilHealth YAKAP Clinic. A doctor will conduct a medical assessment to determine your needs.
Find the list of accredited YAKAP Clinics for CY 2025 here.
After your check-up, the doctor will issue a prescription with a Unique Prescription Security Code (UPSC). This code ensures that only legitimate prescriptions are honored.
To claim your medicines, bring your doctor’s prescription with the UPSC and a valid government-issued ID to 4,300 PhilHealth-accredited clinics nationwide or any accredited GAMOT facility.
As of launch, accredited outlets include:
More outlets across Metro Manila and nationwide are expected to join soon.
PhilHealth confirmed that at least 24 more facilities in Metro Manila are applying to join the GAMOT program, with nationwide rollout in the works. So, if your area isn’t covered yet, expect more options soon.
According to PhilHealth President Dr. Edwin Mercado, this expansion addresses the heavy burden of out-of-pocket expenses for medicines. The move is also part of a shift toward primary care and early detection, with YAKAP covering not just meds but also check-ups, lab tests, and even cancer screenings.
The enhanced GAMOT program officially starts on August 21, 2025. From then on, you can begin availing of your ₱20K free medicine allowance every year.
