Alas, Valentine’s Day is upon us! For some, it’s the most dreaded time of the year when memories of dead romances spring back to life, while those swimming in a sea of mushy romance look forward to other organs raising—yes, you read that right.
For those looking for an affordable space where intimacy, privacy, anonymity and all that jazz (or jizz) are the main concerns, here are the top motels we reviewed for dear old libido’s consideration.
Oh, and these are not just your ordinary motorist’s hotels, these are Pasig motels–the infamous home of the bustling drive-inns for when you need to answer the call of your carnal desires.
Let’s start off with Country Lodge, a modest place with kickass beef kaldereta. Don’t expect too much when it comes to the rooms, but they’re relatively clean and it can do the job of not making you feel so “ugh” when sprawled out in bed. However, the service is a bit mediocre for its rates, but would you really mind the so-so service when the reason you checked-in Country Lodge was for you to be the one…of service?

Deep within the labyrinth of Escarpment Road is Mariposa Budget Hotel. Living up to its name, Mariposa is a surefire value for money motel with an abundance of cheap food choices and room rates. The rooms are steady, the service is fine (given that the staff throws you that awkward stink eye), but really, apart from you being the real MVP, the rates are contenders too! And let’s not forget its spacious garage, which housed a UV express van the time we made our rounds.

A new player in the Shaw-Canley neighborhood is Nice Hotel. Built to serve like a real hotel, Nice offers (nice) rates that are light on the pocket, with rooms that make you feel like you’ve checked-in at a hospital. But don’t worry, its fresh amenities and 24/7 room service make up for that vibe. The game-changer: basement parking. Uh huh, anonymity is secured, but only until you bump into your friends at the lobby. Well, whatever. Nice, right?

It’s time to talk about the big time players, the legendary Flower Group, the four horse men of motels: Daisy, Orchid, Dahlia, and Rosal. It’s someone’s bragging rights to claim that he, she, and everyone else involved have had a taste of these flowers’ sweet, sweet offerings.
Daisy is the cheapest among the Flowers and the one with the most room rates and special promos. Believe me, just ask for a brochure and get on inside Daisy. The rooms are clean enough for you to make a mess on the sheets but the service is forgettable. Daisy is a place where romance can be eaten out by the fact that it’s really only a hit it-and-leave it kind of drive-inn, but, please, don’t leave without trying its mouthwatering Chinese lauriat dish.
