We spend so much time glued to our television screens that popular shows on the major networks have become a huge part of our daily jargon. These shows have already come and gone, but the feelings they’ve instilled on continue, even shows from years ago give us a certain pluck of happy nostalgia.
It’s come to the point that talking about them is not enough. We want them back! Here are shows we’d love to see on our small screens again.
Aired on GMA7 (1999-2004)
Cast includes: Angel Locsin, Richard Gutierrez, Iya Villania, Drew Arellano, Maybelyn dela Cruz, Alessandra de Rossi
There have been lots of youth-oriented shows, but none of them beats the classic ones. Click, which preceded by the equally successful T.G.I.S., is one of the most iconic youth series before that became a huge career stepping stone for some of the popular stars today. With its diverse cast to the entertaining plot, it truly deserves a major look back.
Aired on ABS-CBN (1997-1999)
Starring: Claudine Barretto, Rico Yan, Princess Punzalan, Diether Ocampo
Before JaDine and KathNiel, there was Rico-Claudine. Their strong chemistry was well-loved by television viewers that it’s one of the reasons why Mula sa Puso became a classic from the late 90s. It’s such a fan favorite that it reached 544 episodes, and owned up to 56.5% of TV households. It was remade in 2011, but nothing really beats the original. And we know it has re-aired for several times, but we can’t help but crave for more of the now departed Rico Yan (who we miss so dearly).
Aired on ABS-CBN (January-September 2009)
Starring: Gerald Anderson, Jake Cuenca, Kim Chiu
Mainly remembered for its positive citation of the country’s Armed Forces, Tayong Dalawa was such a phenomenal hit, earning recognitions from several major award-giving bodies. It was popular to the general audience and was received positively by critics. What could be more enticing than seeing Gerald and Jake in military uniforms? It was broadcast in 4 other countries, and it was also Coco Martin’s breakthrough television soap.
Aired on ABS-CBN (2003-2004)
Starring: John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo
While it has a typical teleserye plot, this romantic series captured the hopeless romantic in us with the phenomenal tandem of John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo. We cried, we laughed and we fell in love with Lawrence and Cielo’s twisted story, and a rerun will definitely bring a lot of nostalgia for die-hard John Lloyd-Bea tele viewers. Aside from other notable stars in the series such as Maja Salvador, John Prats and Tirso Cruz III, it started the careers of some big names today, including Kathryn Bernardo and Pia Wurtzbach.
