British singer-songwriter Adele recently shook the world when she changed her social media layout and dropped a teaser of her upcoming single. But she has actually been teasing us about her new album for quite a while now. Here’s what we know about it so far:
Adele released 25 in late 2015 and promoted it throughout 2016, so that was the last year we had any new music from the singer. But it seems we’re finally ending that drought this year.
According to reports, Adele has been working on her new album since 2018 and even planned to release it in late 2020. However, she was forced to postpone the release due to the pandemic.
In October 2020, she guest-hosted in Saturday Night Live, where she said that her next album wasn’t finished yet. “My album’s not finished, and I’m also too scared to do both…I’d rather just put on some wigs, have a glass of wine or six, and just see what happens.”

When Facebook and all their partner platforms blacked out the other night, everyone flocked to Twitter, which garnered its highest record of users at a time. The official account of the social media platform tweeted a simple yet hilarious “hello literally everyone”, which prompted every other official account to reply and say hi — including Adele, making even the Twitter official account spazz in excitement.
The singer-songwriter has been active on her Instagram account, where she posts photos from her everyday life. But her last tweet was a teaser about her guesting on Saturday Night Live last October 2020 (a whole year ago!). And her Facebook page goes way back further to 2018. But early this week, her social media accounts and her website got a makeover. They now feature a blurred photo of . . . something. We’re just seeing a lot of blue-green, but we’re excited anyway!

Aside from her website and social media makeover, fans have also caught random projections of the number “30” lighting up major landmarks all over the world, and many believe this is linked to the artist (though she hasn’t actually confirmed this yet).
Adele is known for naming her albums after her age e.g. 19, 21, and 25. The singer previously said that 25 will be the last album titled after her age, but some fans believe otherwise, with the slew of promotions.
If her upcoming album is really named 30, it would be because that year was a big one for the singer. On Instagram, she talked about her 2019: “30 tried me so hard but I’m owning it and trying my hardest to lean in to it all. No matter how long we’re here for life is constant and complicated at times. I’ve changed drastically in the last couple years and I’m still changing and that’s okay.” She even joked that 30 (as in the album) “will be a drum n bass record to spite you.”
To officially announce her comeback, Adele dropped a 20-second video teaser of her newest single in six years (six long years!) on her social media accounts. “Easy on Me” sounds like it will be an emotional piano ballad that might just drain us out of tears. (But we’re waiting for the drum n bass track, queen.) The new track will be released on October 15.

There’s no official date yet for her album release, but we’re expecting to see it before the year ends, since she’s actively promoting now.
According to Billboard, Adele is looking to have a Las Vegas residency for next year. This means instead of Adele traveling around the world, she will be staying in Las Vegas and invite fans to come and attend several shows. There’s no confirmation yet, however.
