10 years of AlDub: 8 Kalyeserye Moments We’ll Never Forget

Oct 24, 2025   •   Ally Tiongco

Can you believe it has been 10 years since Eat Bulaga’s hit noontime segment, “Kalyeserye”? AlDub, portrayed by Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, had the nation in a chokehold back in the mid-2010s. It began with an unexpected interaction between Yaya Dub (Maine’s character) and Alden Richards during Eat Bulaga’s “Juan for All, All for Juan” segment. The rest was history.

To celebrate Tamang Panahon’s 10th Anniversary, let’s go down memory lane and revisit memorable AlDub moments!

The Very First Split Screen

Of course, we have to start off strong and mention their very first meeting. Who knew that coincidentally panning onto Alden while Yaya Dub was dubsmashing would spark a whole new plotline for the segment?

Challenge Accepted! Alden runs to Cubao

As part of the traditional ligawan culture in the Philippines, Lola Nidora tasked Alden to bring pieces of wood from Broadway to EDSA/Cubao within 20 minutes. This was the first of many challenges Lola Nidora gave to Alden to prove his intentions in pursuing Yaya Dub.

The Plywood Incident

Alden and Yaya Dub promised Lola Nidora that they would not attempt to meet each other, but the two made every attempt to see each other. After a few rounds in the studio, Alden and Yaya Dub finally saw each other face to face for the first time. But as they inched towards each other, Lola Nidora dropped a plywood wall between the two. So near yet so far.

Alden and Yaya Dub get kidnapped

After the plywood incident, Alden and Yaya Dub were kidnapped by Lola Nidora’s granddaughter, Duhrizz. Blindfolded while in a parking lot, Duhrizz made the two walk around, and eventually, they bumped into each other, sending the nationwide audience into a kilig frenzy.

First Date

First dates are always special, and this was especially true for Alden and Yaya Dub. Lola Nidora was very particular about distance, so for their first date, she prepared a very long table to separate the two. In spite of the space between them, shockwaves of kilig ran through the entire studio and country! Unfortunately, the date had to be cut short due to a Lola Nidora-related emergency.

Alden visits Lola Nidora’s Mansion

Alden visited Lola Nidora’s mansion with bouquets of flowers for Lola Nidora, her siblings, and, of course, Yaya Dub.

Tamang Panahon

Throughout the series, the term “tamang panahon” was repeated by Lola Nidora, referring to the right time for things, especially relationships. And October 24, 2015 was the tamang panahon for Alden and Yaya Dub.

With many more online, over 55,000 people flocked to the Philippine Arena to witness Alden and Yaya Dub meet. It was a remarkable event as the two finally interacted with no restrictions, as it was finally their tamang panahon. The entire Kalyeserye plot line led and built up to this moment. The entire nation roared with kilig and rejoiced as the two finally met.

AlDub Wedding

Honestly, it is hard to believe that this was all for show. Nearly a year after AlDub’s Tamang Panahon event at the Philippine Arena, the AlDub wedding was held in celebration of its anniversary. The wedding was staged like an actual wedding. The venue was a real chapel in Quezon City, and it was even attended by the pair’s fictional and real-life circles. This wedding formally concluded AlDub’s fairytale story.

AlDub was groundbreaking in the entertainment industry, breaking many records and gaining widespread love from Filipinos. Happy 10 years, AlDub!
