We opened February with a video reminder from actress Angelica Panganiban on the importance of our vote in the May 2022 elections. Now, we’re greeting Valentine’s Day with another important reminder from this socially aware queen. And no matter what bashers might call her, she doesn’t care.
Last week, nonprofit organization Young Public Servants published a video starring Angelica Panganiban. Using her personal experiences in her love life, she advised her viewers to carefully examine any “manliligaw” — or candidates courting you for your vote in the upcoming elections.
The video immediately gained a lot of attention, and VinCentiments also released a parody, both of which received praise and condemnation alike..
On Friday night, Young Public Servants released a new video with Panganiban — this time, their focus is on people preying on innocent other people with fraudulent schemes, a.k.a. scammers.
“Ang daming mapagsamantala ngayon, ano?” Panganiban starts, but she quickly denies that she’s talking about love, like she was in the previous video. She says she’s talking about the liars all around us: “Pandemya na nga, nanguha pa mangbudol ng kapwa!” Panganiban points to people who place fake orders but wouldn’t pay or online sellers who ask for payment only to block you in the end.
On her last day in office, retired commissioner Rowena Guanzon became the most recent victim of prank food delivery bookings. Other high-profile victims of such “pranks” include two presidential aspirants: Vice President Leni Robredo and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
Panganiban goes on to remind the viewers that these schemes affect not only finances, but also health and life, sharing that she personally never goes back to these scammers again. “Wala ako sa mga second-chance second-chance, sa mga kembak kembak na ‘yan! Pag may history ng pambubudol: never again, never forget tayo.” She referenced her infamous scene from the movie Beauty in a Bottle.

For the upcoming elections, Panganiban implores viewers to be careful of scammers. “Wag na tayong magpa-uto. At por Diyos, por santo, wag bumoto ng magnanakaw,” she says as she walks away from the camera.
While Panganiban has been getting a lot of love, some netizens are also bashing the video. In a since deleted tweet, one netizen accused her of being a “starlet” who is just making noise.
Instead of getting insulted, Panganiban clapped back at the netizen, implying she feels grateful that she had an impact on them, even as a so-called “starlet.” Her tweet read: “Pero affected ka sa ingay nang isang starlet? Salamat kung ganoin.”

Fans were quick to defend Panganiban, pointing out how big of an actress she is now and even during her youth.
Kung starlet si Angge, lahat ng ng iba e microstarlet

Panganiban began her career as a child actress, rising to prominence with her appearance in Sarah… Ang Munting Prinsesa. As a teen star, she joined the youth show G-mik for three years before eventually transitioning into more mature roles, including Rubi (2010), Pangako Sa ‘Yo (2015), That Thing Called Tadhana (2015), Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes (2018), and Exes Baggage (2018).

Most netizens have been praising the actress for using her huge platform in order to call attention to why the upcoming elections are so important and why every Filipino’s vote matters. Panganiban recognized some of these praises and quote-tweeted them on her Twitter account, because for Angge, social responsibility is important, especially with a platform as big as hers. Louder! You go girl!
Importante po kasi ang social responsibility 🙂 https://t.co/YCP9H44i8Z
