It’s 2024, and people should know by now that we’re not in a game show. Stop DMing your colleagues with just their names or a mere ‘hello.’ Give a bit more context for the sake of everyone’s sanity. Is it about yesterday’s report? An upcoming meeting? Perhaps something urgent? Quit the guessing game and get straight to the point.

We’re totally on board with being the office superheroes and helping with tasks. However, there’s a huge difference between pitching in and having an officemate hand over their entire project — as if it was assigned to us in the first place. If you can’t finish your deadlines alone, you probably need a time management 101 refresher.

Even if you come up with a solid solution to the most stressful crisis, office know-it-alls will always find a way to steer the spotlight to themselves. They exude big ~*main character*~ energy, will undermine you, or even worse — take credit for your hard work.

Being too busy is real, but when you don’t bother to reply or acknowledge any work-related emails AT ALL — that’s a problem. If this is you, it won’t hurt to spend a portion of your time responding to urgent matters or long-forgotten emails. Better late than never, right?

Chika is life, but there are those who seem to think that their job title is “office gossip expert”. Always expect a tap on the shoulder followed by the line, “Uy, may chika ako…” even though they literally just clocked in.

Sharing is caring who?

Nightmares for employees often involve a boss who’s unwilling to share their experiences and knowledge. They expect you to know everything already, even if you’re a new hire. Zoom in on these bosses, and you’ll discover their selfishness is just a cover for their insecurities.

The (Un)official boss

There’s always that one person in the office who thinks they run the show, next to the real boss. They strut around like they’re in line for the company, keeping tabs on what everyone else is doing. It’s a no-brainer why nobody wants to be near them.

Always passive

Don’t have a lot on your plate? Don’t just sit at your desk and twiddle your thumbs. Just look around and you will find something that needs to get done within your scope of responsibility. Don’t wait around for it to become a problem and step up. That’s literally your job!
