Angat Buhay’s Bayanihan e-Konsulta Is Now Offering FREE Mental Health Services

Angat Buhay’s Bayanihan e-Konsulta Is Now Offering FREE Mental Health Services

Oct 28, 2022   •   Kyzia Maramara

Former Vice President Leni Robredo’s free teleconsultation initiative, Bayanihan e-Konsulta, has helped thousands of Filipinos across the country since it was first launched in April 2021. It was meant to assist those infected during the COVID-19 surge and to fill in the gaps in the government’s pandemic response. And now, it’s offering mental health services too.

Mental health matters

Bayanihan e-Konsulta announced on Facebook that starting October 28, they will be offering free mental health services. Any Pinoy can avail of it!

“LIBRE po ito sa publiko. Sa tulong ng ating volunteers, mas madali nating naipapaabot ang mga serbisyong ito,” the post said.

This news came two days after the Bayanihan e-Konsulta posted on social media about looking for mental health professional volunteers.

Angat Buhay and Bayanihan e-Konsulta have always been able to operate by relying on the help of volunteers. These projects help boost the spirit of volunteerism among Filipinos, something that Robredo has ignited during her campaign for president.

A stigma we need to crush

We have to admit that mental health is still a stigma in the Philippines. Some Pinoys are open to discussing their mental woes, some are reserved and think they can bottle everything up. Unfortunately, repressed emotions can lead to extreme stress, depression, and more. That’s why we need proper mental health counselors and services to guide us.

Robredo’s Bayanihan e-Konsulta and Angat Buhay NGO is doing all the heavy lifting to make mental health services accessible to the masses. So starting Oct. 28, don’t miss your chance to talk to a volunteer doctor to learn a little more about yourself or unburden your thoughts with professionals to guide you.

Netizens express gratitude for Bayanihan e-Konsulta mental health services

“Maraming salamat E-konsulta marami na naman kayong matutulungan lalo na yung walang kakayanan magbayad sa mga doctor ng mga may mental health condition, God bless sa inyong lahat ,” read one comment on Facebook.

“Sigurado ako mas makakatulong ito sa mental health ng mga tao kesa sa dolomite beach na binutas lang ang bulsa ng bayan,” said another.

Most of the posts express gratitude toward these services that would normally cost upwards of P500. But Angat Buhay has managed to provide them for free. Hopefully, our national government take notes from this project and implement it on a national level for every Filipino’s good.

To avail of the Bayanihan e-Konsulata mental health services, you can send them a message on Messenger.
