It’s a shame Paul only has two branches in the Philippines, but this boulangerie is definitely worth the drive to BGC. At least through authentic, high quality bread and pastries—you can pretend you’re in France, sampling one of the things that the French do best. And what better way to do that than through a 125-year-old bakery? Have a lovely breakfast at Paul, and then hoard goodies like the Le Grand Macaron and Millefeuille Mango for later.
Here’s another famous French bakery that should be in every bread-lover’s bucket list. Although Eric Kayser is newer than Paul, their bread and pastries have already wowed people from all over the world. New York Magazine praised Eric Kayser for having the best baguette, and their croissant bas been prized in Tokyo. Have fun finding out if their products suit the Filipino palate.
You’ve probably seen and drooled over Wildflour’s bakery spread in your social media feed. And no matter how many times you see it, you still end up with an intense bread-craving after. Wildflour’s confectionaries are way more than just photogenic, though. They offer unique baked goods like the Garlic Knot and the Salted Chocolate Cake, alongside reinvented classics like their Young Coconut Pie (aka Buko Pie).
The Breadery has the wonderful goal of letting Pinoys experience the best bread from all over the world. They continually offer something new, exciting and of course, delicious. They’re also very generous as they let customers sample each variant—no questions asked or judging looks passed. Simply survey the beautiful spread of goodies, and pick up the prepared samples already laid out. Be forwarned: It’ll be a challenge not buying every single thing. So if you’re on a budget, save your moolah for the Truffle Buns, Butter Cube and Kouign Amann.
