This 2024, Binibining Pilipinas is celebrating its 60th anniversary, and the celebration couldn’t be more iconic than ever. Held last Sunday, July 7, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, the grand coronation night saw 40 candidates vying to represent the country for the Miss International and Miss Globe pageants. While the candidates were given their time to shine on stage, there are quite a number of memorable moments still being talked about. Morena beauties continue to shine

Abra’s Myrna Esguerra and Pampanga’s Jasmin Bungay were crowned as the Philippines’ representatives for Miss International and Miss Globe respectively. Pageant fans were especially happy to see morena beauty queens winning the crown and representing us on the world’s stages.

BBP title holders reunite, including four Miss Universes on one stage!

As one pageant fan said, Madame Stella de Aranate has called on the coven! In celebration of its diamond year, the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc gathered over 100 of its winners, including our four Miss Universes Gloria Diaz, Margie Moran, Pia Wurtzbach, and Catriona Gray. They’re joined by Miss International titleholders Bea Santiago, Kylie Verzosa, and Melanie Marquez, among many other queens, making it a truly star-studded night.

An all-female panel of judges and hosts

Beauty queens hosted the momentous night, with Catriona Gray, Nicole Cordoves, Ruffa Gutierrez, Kylie Versoza, and MJ Lastimosa providing great commentary throughout the event.

Even the line-up of judges was made up of female queens in their own right:

Janina San Miguel’s confidence shines

Janina San Miguel’s comeback couldn’t have gone any better, this time without any pressure. She gracefully answered the question on whether she had a favorite contestant: “At this moment, yes, I do have a bet already. And it’s all because of her confidence and presence.”

San Miguel was the Binibining Pilipinas World 2008 titleholder, who went viral for her memorable lines of “No, I don’t feel any pressure right now” and “My family.”

Catriona Gray remains updated on the Filipino population

Miss Universe 2018 made a reference to a memorable line from her winning Q&A speech, mentioning the total number of population of Filipinos in the country. The queen is updated!

MJ Lastimosa gets a glow-up in wardrobe choice

Miss Universe Philippines 2014 MJ Lastimosa drew a lot of criticism when she came out for the national costume competition wearing this white Flores de Mayo-inspired gown created by Colombian designer Alfredo Barraza. She paid tribute to the much-maligned look in a much more tasteful white gown.

MJ Lastimosa mistakenly says “500 pesos”

Instead of “five hundred thousand pesos”, Lastimosa accidentally omits the word “thousand”, ending up with only a “five hundred pesos” worth of prizes. Fellow beauty queen and host Nicole Cordoves turned her head in surprise. Don’t worry, though; the prize really is worth 500,000 pesos.

As the fishbowl queen, a.k.a. the host responsible for handing over the questions to the judges, Nicole Cordoves looked back on all the hosting gigs she has done for Binibining Pilipinas over the years, most of which have birthed iconic memes of her “offering” food to the judges.
