After almost two years of being away from the spotlight, BLACKPINK is back with new music, an album, and everything in between. The female Korean act has emerged as one of the Hallyu wave leaders after breaking online records and accomplishing several music feats. This August, all eyes are on BLACKPINK’s Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé. Here’s a breakdown of everything we know about their long-awaited return.
Last July, YG Entertainment confirmed the news BLINKs have been waiting for who-knows-how-long: The female quartet is in the final stages of recording its album.
Earlier, Jennie also teased the group’s return on a variety show appearance. “BLACKPINK is preparing to make a comeback soon. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this, but since I’m here on my own today, I’ll say what I want. Please cheer us on a lot,” the vocalist said.
Following the success of The Album, BLACKPINK is entering a new era with BORN PINK. An announcement trailer was released yesterday, and as of this writing, already has more than 10 million views on YouTube. The numbers don’t lie — BLINKs are super excited to hear new bops from the girls. After the trailer’s release, BORN PINK was on everyone’s lips.

One user even pointed out that Rosé and Lisa were subtly giving hints.

And another says BORN PINK is inspired by Greek myth’s Medusa! Honestly, that’d be dope!

It seems BLACKPINK will follow a release schedule similar to The Album. A pre-release single is coming this August followed by the title track and their second studio album. Even though we have no idea what the song is about, we know it’s going to be on repeat because BLACKPINK always delivers.
If you’re a long-time BLINK, you know that BLACKPINK’s music videos are always on another level. From having a giant heart-shaped mouse trap in Kill this Love to a little flower sanctuary in How You Like That, expect high-quality productions from these fierce ladies. Their upcoming music video is no exception and is said to be the “largest ever production” of YG Entertainment.
Live concerts and events are now back in full swing, and BLACKPINK is joining the party with an upcoming world tour after their album promotions. There are no official dates and cities yet, but we’re hoping that Manila is part of the list. *Crosses fingers* You hear that, YG?
