It all started when someone on Reddit pointed out the absurd coincidence of celebrities taking a photo with BLACKPINK Rosé and, shortly after, breaking up with their significant others, dubbing it the Rosé Curse. And since the Rosé Curse (or should we Rosé Cursé?) had “strong” evidence to prove its existence, it immediately became a hilarious fandom inside joke. It sounds absurd and it is, but recent history seems to prove that this meme might be on to something after all. Here are 8 celebrities and personalities who broke up with their partners after interacting with Rosé.

 

Andrea Brillantes and Ricci Rivero

During BLACKPINK’s concert at the Philippine Arena last March 25, Andrea Brillantes did a sweet promposal for her then-boyfriend Ricci Rivero. She held a placard that read “I just want to ask Ricci Rivero, will you go to prom with Andrea?” Rosé ended up reading it aloud and saying, “Please go to prom with that girl.” Fast forward to four months later, in July, Andrea and Ricci had a messy and public breakup.

Andrea joined Rosé’s Instagram Live session last August 8 and commented that her favorite memory is interacting with the singer for her promposal. “OMG yes that’s me. We broke up now,” said Andrea.

Rosé seemed shocked but she dismissed it with a giggle and simply said “I’ll pretend I didn’t see that.”

 

Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn

When the shocking news of Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn’s breakup broke online, many were quick to point out that Rosé took a photo with the singer back in August during the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards. “Rosé curse is too strong that no one can get away from it. not even Queen Taylor Swift,” said one fan on the Internet.

 

Rami Malek and Lucy Boynton

After almost half a decade of dating, Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) and his girlfriend of 4 years Lucy Boynton (Murder on the Orient Express) broke up. And guess what? In 2020, Rami took a photo with Rosé at a Saint Laurent Show. It took a while, but the evidence is there, and the fans are as equally (and jokingly) convinced — the Rosé Curse is real.

In June 2022, Florence Pugh and Rosé met at a Tiffany & Co. London event as brand ambassadors. The pair took a photo together, Florence in a stunning two-piece all-black fit and Rosé in a diamond-encrusted white cutout gown. A literal month later, Florence confirmed her split with Zach, further stoking the fires of the Rosé Curse.

 

Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez

Ariana Grande posted a photo of her with the Blackpink girls when they performed at Coachella in 2019. A month after they met, she even sent Rosé a bottle of her Cloud Perfume as a special gift. At the time, Ariana wasn’t dating anyone but her next beau, whom she ended up marrying, is Dalton Gomez. Fast forward to 2023, Ariana and Dalton are already splitting after two years of marriage. Yikes.

 

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik

Rosé posted a selfie with Gigi Hadid on her Instagram story, taken during the 2021 Met Gala. The two appear to be close friends, with Rosé captioning the photo with “Biggest sweetheart” and tagging Gigi. A month later, in October 2021, Gigi and Zayn Malik announced their breakup and everyone is left scratching their heads and wondering if the Rosé Curse might actually be real.

 

Bella Poarch and Tyler Poarch

Before Bella Poarch announced she’s having a divorce, no one even knew she had a husband. The information was so out of left field that folks joked the Rosé Curse was the only thing that brought it out to the limelight. What’s their connection? Rosé starred in Bella’s music video for her hit song “Build a B*tch” which premiered in May 2021. Paparazzi photos of Bella and Rosé meeting at a building’s lobby also circulated online in July 2021 clearly indicating that the pair are good friends. The following year, Bella got a divorce in November after being married to Tyler Poarch for four years.

 

Kendall Jenner and Devin Brooker

Blinks were excited when Rosé got to meet and take a photo with supermodel Kendall Jenner and designer Eva Chow. They met during the LACMA Gala in November 2021. Not even three weeks later, Kendall and her boyfriend of two years, Devin Brooker, were confirmed to have broken up. Blinks immediately reacted to the breakup, saying the Rosé Curse strikes again. At this point, can we blame them?

With Rosé flying all over the world and meeting bigger and bigger stars, everyone’s patiently waiting for (and offering suggestions) the next Rosé Curse v”ictim”. Rosé herself hasn’t acknowledged this rumor in any way but if her giggles from her latest live video where Andrea Brillantes left a comment is any indicator, it seems like she’s aware of it.
