Bondee: Why Everyone’s Obsessed With This New Social Media App

If you’ve seen a lot of adorable avatars on your social media this past week, you might be wondering what that’s all about. It’s the miniature world of Bondee, where you can dress up, design your room, and hang out with friends. Launched last week by Singapore-based company Metadream Tech Pte. Ltd., Bondee is a meta-universe social networking app that allows you to interact with your friends through avatars. Think The Sims, but with your real life friends. In fact, one user described it as having Facebook, Telegram, and The Sims in one app.

 

You can make an avatar and dress them up

The avatar represents you in the virtual world of Bondee. You can use it to interact with your friends, engage in different activities, and meet new people.

From what we’ve seen so far, the basic look of a Bondee avatar is similar across all users, but they do show adorable emotive faces. On top of that, you can choose among thousands of trendy outfit options to give your avatar a fresh new look everyday. Cute, chic, elegant, sexy, lazy — you can dress up your avatar according to whatever style you want.

 

You can design your own room

Once you’re done dressing up your avatar, you can then decorate your own room. Each user gets to design a small cube-shaped space, where you can place all your favorite items. You can choose what furniture to put around the room, and you can also upload photos that you can put up on your walls.

 

You can socialize with your friends

When you enter the meta-universe, Bondee opens directly to a virtual plaza featuring all your friends’ avatars. You can double tap on their avatars to interact with them. Hang out in their rooms or chat with them via live messaging.

You can also leave a status for your friends to see. Your status can be a photo or a personal animated emoji to showcase how you’re feeling that day.

 

You can explore the unknown sea

Aside from being a virtual hang-out space with your friends, Bondee also allows you to meet new people. The app has a feature where you can ride a boat and explore the sea. There, you can pick up drift bottles to interact with others.

Each bottle has a message, which you can respond to so you can make new friends. Or you can throw your own bottles, which others can pick up to reply to your message.

 

Bondee and blockchain

Less than a month into its launch and the app has already gotten a lot of attention from users for its endearing features. However, a few netizens have cautioned others about the involvement of nonfungible tokens (NFTs) and blockchain technology in the app. Upon checking the terms of service and privacy policy of Bondee, it can be confirmed that the app has a public blockchain, NFT products, and other similar features within the platform.
