It’s not their permanent job, it’s just a phase. “You know, that’s a funny thing because if you ask Dave Hester, he would explain to you why he is the best at this business, and why he should make seminars about the business because that’s all he ever wants to do. But I can tell you personally, it’s just a job, it’s just something I do right now, there’s something else for me in the future and I know it. I’m not gonna be a storage buyer for my whole life. It’s not my life ambition and it was something I did because you have to keep working. It’s manual labor, and it’s definitely not a glamorous job,” says Jarrod.
Storage Wars gets its appeal because there are no actors but rather features real people who just want to do no-nonsense business.
“I can tell you that it takes an adjustment period,” says Jarrod. “Nine seasons now and I can tell you we’ve adjusted. Initially, it was culture shock to go out in the public where random people would touch or hug you. Older ladies wanting to give me a kiss on the cheek, it’s weird but it’s a learning curve that we’ve adjusted.”
They leave everything behind once they get home.
“We learned to leave our problems at the door, whatever happened at work that day, whatever fight we got into [is left behind],” says by Brandi
“We got to leave it at the shop, we got to leave it at the car, and we can’t bring it in the house. You can be mad at the auction, but when we get home you can’t be mad. You’ve got to let it go—that’s our secret,” added Jarrod.
“You can expect to see us on every season until this show is dead and in the grave, and buried,” says Jarrod.
