Celebrities — they’re just like us, decluttering items we no longer use and selling pre-loved items at a cheaper price. Case in point: actress Carla Abellana has taken to Instagram to sell designer clothes, shoes, bags, and accessories she no longer uses. She has been doing this since October 2023, but her more recent posts have put her on the internet’s hot seat due to the quality and price of what she’s selling.
Three days ago, Carla Abellana started posting various items for sale, ranging from shoes and bags to jewelry and accessories. However, a few items in particular caught netizens’ eyes.
The first is a Miu Miu White and Gold Slip-Ons that were bought in Paris and are admittedly cute and chic. That is, until you see the outsoles that have definitely seen better days. She is currently selling it for PHP 5,500.
Two bags also caught the attention of netizens, namely a Longchamp Polka Dot Bag and a Fendi 2 Jours Bag in Coral, both of which have obvious stain marks. These two bags have since been removed from her account.
Finally, another item is a Dolce & Gabbana Satin Red Bow Stilletos, which has earned the heat of netizens’ frustrations due to its hiked-up price.
After several screenshots went viral on Reddit and X (formerly Twitter), netizens have filled her selling posts with comments describing her items as “used and abused.”
“Kahit 1k di ko bibilhin hehe lalo na yung ibang sobrang laspag na,” an Instagram user said.
Another expressed disappointment that the actress seemingly didn’t take time to clean the items before selling them. “Di man lang effort-an linisin bago i-post and up for sale. Ang dugyot.”
One netizen also jokingly asked how the actress walks that it damaged the shoes this much.
Someone pointed out that the price tag on the box of her Dolce & Gabbana Satin Red Bow Stilletos read USD 199.99, which is roughly PHP 11,000. This prompted netizens to call her out for selling it for a much higher price of PHP 18,000.
Some netizens came to the actress’s defense, stating that the designer items were much more expensive than her selling price.
“48,800+ original price nyan,” one wrote in reference to a Christian Louboutin pair. “It costs £260 which is around the same asking price na P18,500. C. Louboutin parin yan.”
Another asked netizens not to be too harsh. “It’s up to you naman if bibilhin nyo o hindi. Kaya nga she’s showing the items para makita if may issue o wala.”
A netizen also pointed out that cleaning designer items isn’t as easy as it sounds — and definitely isn’t cheap. “If you don’t understand the brand, then don’t think about it too much. Kung irerepair/icondition pa yan ni Miss Carla, expect a higher pricing because luxury spa is not cheap.”
However, another netizen pointed out that this type of feedback is common in the selling business. In fact, it may help the seller improve their products and services.
While she didn’t engage directly with the netizens commenting on her selling posts, the actress took to Threads to express her thoughts. “People can so mean. So mean,” she wrote.
Some netizens were civil and calm in delivering their comments, though they were few and far in between. One asked if the actress was hacked. “Kahit sinong matinong tao di magbebenta ng mga items na di man lang presentable at nilinis. Baka ibang tao lang ito na nagpapanggap na sayo daw.”
Another suggested that the actress should clean the items she’s selling and maybe lower their prices to match expectations.
