8 Childhood Characters We’re Still Disappointed We Can’t Be

There really is something endearing with fiction that creates a world of its own with different characters we can identify with. Who didn’t, at one point in their lives, dreamt of forming his own Fellowship of the Ring, assigning their friends as either a dwarf, a hobbit or an elf? Moreover, we picked up a long branch, smote the ground with it and shouted ‘You shall not pass!’ until our graduating classmate cried in fear.
Need I say more? I mean, there was definitely a certain phase in our childhood when we wielded our makeshift lightsabers and made a whooshing sound as we battled with our friends. The prettiest girl would, of course, be Princess Leia, complete with ensaymada hairdo; the not so pretty ones would probably be cast as Chewbacca or Jabba the Hutt. And who hasn’t imitated Darth Vader’s breathing in their life? Of course, now that we are grownups, Star Wars is still our source for a different kind of fantasy.
I’ll just sit quietly here while you sing the next lines:
“I wanna be the very best
Like no one ever was
To catch them is my real test
To train them is my cause”
Hands down, Harry Potter franchise has a very big influence in this generation. Remember the days when we used to wait for our Hogwarts acceptance letter every start of school year, hoping it would save us from our real school. Of course, it wouldn’t be lost in us to pick our own ‘wands’ and blurt out all the magic spells we have memorized. Sometimes, we still fight the urge to tap any brick wall in a train station or to whisper “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good” every time we see a blank paper. There’s so much in the wizarding world we wish were true that I’d like to discuss but you’re probably holding your broomsticks now preparing for a Quidditch match. Just cross your fingers – there’s always the Filch’s way.
