Classic commercials never die. While we still can’t find RA Homevision on YouTube, there’s more than enough of the awesome commercials of yesteryear for us to go back and reminisce. After all, we’ve already done it before.
That is, unless you think “Finally, Ariel happened to me” is the be-all and end-all of Philippine commercials.
Probably the most recent of all the classic commercials here, when this ad came out in 2009 it left an indelible mark on all of us. This is one commercial that absolutely fits the description of an “instant classic,” what with its ability to hit you right in the feels when the payoff comes. This was #hugot long before #hugot was even a thing.
San Miguel Beer is well-known for memorable commercials. This is just one among the endless line. Rachel Lobangco? Bert “Tawa” Marcelo? APO Hiking Society? This was probably the best of their advertising efforts before they went for a more rugged image with the likes of “Sabado Nights.”
Growing up with the Olympic Energy? Nope. The other iconic Milo jingle about needing a Milo a day! Have you ever wondered where Ovaltine is nowadays? Sometimes, I think it has a lot to do with their distinct lack of jingles.
“Sports car! Yung red!” Hard to find funnier commercials than this, really.
Can you imagine the casting call for this commercial? “Uhhh… we need foreigners, guys! And do we have that animator yet for our crocodile?” Also, what’s with the crocodile?!?
This is a classic in every sense of the word. This was the ad that put Bench on the map, featuring Richard Gomez rowing his boat in calm, serene water. You don’t want to hear the rumors of what he went through to get this career-defining spot.
You wanna see what happens when you open a bag of nips? Watch the commercial and find out if you don’t know the answer to that question!
