What You Need to Know About the Different COVID-19 Vaccines the Philippines May Roll Out

Jan 14, 2021   •   Meryl Medel

Nearly a year from the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in the Philippines, talks of procuring vaccines are well underway. Some cities have announced that they have secured a number of supplies for their residents, while the national government has also been in talks with several different suppliers. According to Philippine vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr, the government could begin the vaccine distribution as soon as February 2021. But what should you know about the different brands of COVID-19 vaccines that the Philippines may roll out for the public?

How many doses are needed? 1 to 2
What is the estimated cost? USD 4/dose, USD 8 per patient (approximately PHP 200/dose, PHP 400/patient)
Which countries have approved it for emergency limited use? United Kingdom, India, Argentina, El Salvador, Mexico, Bangladesh, Dominican Republic
How much supply has the Philippines secured? 13 million doses
