Pinoy music lovers know what June means: it’s Fête de la Musique month! The much awaited annual music festival is once again upon us, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s time to plan reunions and meet-ups with friends and map out as many stages as you can hit in one night. Now celebrating its 25th year in the Philippines, Fête de la Musique showcases the best of the best in the local music scene.
The festival is organized by Alliance Française de Manille together with B-Side Productions and the Embassy of France to the Philippines.
Fête de la Musique is the perfect way to support your favorite OPM acts and to discover new ones too. Their 25th year, a milestone celebration, is focused on offering music for everyone. With over 50 pocket stages scattered across Makati and Metro Manila each hosting different music genres, you’re bound to find the perfect stage for you.
Do you love reggae? Head on to the Reggae Stage by BMDM Production at Cabin 420 Bar and Bistro! Or perhaps you’re more of the Bedroom Beats kind of person, then drag your friends to Yoi Sake Bar. There’s even a Spoken Word Stage by Words Anonymous at Y Café! The fun in Fête de la Musique is mapping out the stages and venue-hopping with your best buds.
On June 22, the A-Venue Main Stage at A-Venue Parking Lot will host performances from Ang Bandang Shirley, Unique, Apartel, Ebe Dancel, Itchyworms, #GlobeFête Production Number, and more. The Greenbelt Main Stage at the Greenbelt park will simultaneously host live performances from OPM bands Autotelic, Urbandub, She’s Only Sixteen, The Ransom Collective, and more.
On June 28, bands such as Munimuni, Leanne and Naara, Sandwich, Juan Karlos, One Click Straight x Ena Mori will light up the Intramuros Main Stage at Puerto Real Gardens.
The Intramuros Main stage will also host a special All-Female French-Filipino Medley led by Pinay musician Radha and in collaboration with Vanessa Monot, Fatima Palma-Loo, and more.
This year’s Fête de la Musique has a sweet surprise for its fans. For the first time ever, it’s hosting the Discovery Stage by Echoes PH to be held on June 22 at Warehouse Eight. The lineup is kept a secret so no one knows yet who’s going to be playing. It might be one of the heavier names in OPM or it might be a new discovery that you’ll like. Whatever the case is, it’s thrilling and interesting and definitely worth adding to your stages to visit for that night.
For Fête de la Musique’s 25th year, various artists will come together for a special 25-minute performance on June 21 at the A-Venue, Makati Main Stage. Bituin Escalante, Aia de Leon, Vic Facultad, Cooky Chua, Bayang Barrios, Jensen Gomez, Bea Lorenzo, Josh Villena, and more will be performing a multi-genre medley led by Francis de Veyra.
Fête de la Musique is also expanding to more venues outside the metro on June 29. These provincial stages are set in select cities with main stages in Baguio, Batangas, Bulacan, Laguna, Palawan, and Pampanga. So if you’re game for a road trip with your friends, hit these stages up for a better experience!
This year, Fête de la Musique is giving fans a chance to win round-trip tickets to France through the #FêteStories social media contest. All they have to do is share a 25-second video of their fondest Fête de la Musique memories through the years. This is an opportunity of a lifetime and if going to this music festival is a tradition for you and your friends this contest is easy!
With a soon-to-be-announced lineup, DocDef and Gabi Na Naman Productions will be ending the 25th anniversary through a closing party on June 29 at 20:20, La Fuerza Plaza 1 Chino Roces Avenue, Makati.
