PSA: Students, Here’s Where You Can Get Discounted Fares and Free Rides This Back-to-School Season

After two years of online learning, face-to-face classes are back once again across all levels, which means students will once again traverse the heavy traffic across the roads all over the metro. So if you’re a student, it’s important to know where you can get discounts (or even free rides!) when you’re commuting to and from school. Here’s a quick guide to help you, so make sure to bookmark this page!
How much is the fare discount? There are FREE rides available for all commuters from 4 AM to 11 PM under the EDSA Carousel’s program with the Department of Transportation.
Until when is the discount available? The program was extended until December 2022.
How can you avail it? Simply line up for the carousel during the designated hours.

How can you avail it? Head to the Passenger Assistance Office (PAO) or the teller’s booth of the LRT. Present a valid school ID or any proof of enrollment, then you can receive a single-journey ticket.
How much is the fare discount? 20% off, including weekends and holidays.
Until when is the discount available? The discount is available at any time for students in accordance with the Student Fare Discount Law or Republic Act 11314.
How can you avail it? Present a valid school ID or an enrollment form. Then purchase a single-journey ticket in any MRT-3 station.

Until when is it available? The ferry service is available from 7 AM to 6:40 PM. You can follow their Facebook page to stay updated with the ferry’s schedule.
How can you avail it? Present a valid ID. Have your temperature checked and comply with the ferry’s health protocols. Fill out the manifest and commuter information sheet. Then you can board.
How much is the fare discount? For students commuting from Quezon City Hall to the University Belt in Manila, you can get FREE rides with the buses of the Philippine Coast Guard.
Until when is it available? There has been no announcement until when the program will be implemented, but as the free rides are available under the Libreng Sakay program, it may follow the same schedule (i.e. first quarter of the school year).
