Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano are undoubtedly one of the hottest love team partners in showbiz right now. They’ve done multiple projects in the two years that they’ve been on-screen partners. There’s Star Cinema’s Love is Color Blind and the ABS-CBN hit rom-com series He’s Into Her which has already expanded to two seasons. The pair have grown a cult following, not surprising given their acting chops and chemistry that transcends the screen. And like with every other love team in local showbiz, everyone’s wishing that these two would just date each other IRL. Sometimes their actions make us feel like they’re actually dating — but are they?

We did a little digging (which led into slipping down the rabbit hole full of DonBelle videos) and here are just some of the things that have us convinced DonBelle could be something more than just on-screen partners.

His best cheerleader

The recent Star Magic Games 2022 was full of kilig moments from on-screen and IRL love teams. Which group DonBelle (the Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano love team) falls on, we can only speculate. But they did give the whole stadium and the Internet loads of kilig when Belle emerged wearing Donny’s high school jersey. She cheered on the 24-year-old, who played basketball under the Star Magic Dream Team. And when Donny was awarded as part of the Mythical Five, he went to Belle and gave her the medal. As if that wasn’t boyfriend behavior enough, they also held hands for a bit while walking out.

After the games, Donny posed a photo of himself and his — dare we say — muse with the caption “Best cheerleader, thank you!” Belle replied to the post with her own comment: “You were so good!!!” The actress also posted photos with Donny with a short but sweet “Proud of you!” in the caption. They aren’t afraid to be openly sweet to each other and we’re taking that as a sign of a deepening relationship.

They just click

It’s like magic. If the on-screen chemistry from all the episodes of His Into Her hasn’t convinced you that they naturally vibe IRL, Belle will gladly confirm that. When asked what she thinks makes their pairing a success, Belle says it’s because their personalities jive and they’re often on the same wavelength.

“Para kaming nag-wo-work pero we don’t feel as if we’re working kasi sobrang nag-e-enjoy kami. And sobrang feeling ko nag-ja-jive lang talaga yung ugali namin and parang same wavelength so nagkakaintindihan kami,” she said.

The Newspaper Dance

Speaking of clicking and vibing, let’s talk about the Newspaper Dance. Before watching this video, prepare a pillow you can scream into because it’s too cute to handle. In a three-minute clip, DonBelle showed just how comfortable they are with each other while the cast of He’s Into Her 2 played a classic game of Newspaper Dance. When it came down to it, Belle didn’t hesitate to jump into Donny’s arms so they could clear the round. Flashback to that scene in the show’s second season! And look at him acting as if they do this every day.

Sharing what they like about each other

Belle once admitted that Donny is boyfriend material. Swoon. “Well I guess you can ask all the girls here and for sure they’ll say yes naman of course,” she added.

The 19-year-old also shared the qualities she likes about her onscreen partner: “What I like most is yung pagiging supportive niya and yung optimisim niya sa set na napapasa niya sa lahat. Yung pagiging happy niya na napapasa niya sa lahat. Nabibigay niya yung energy niya sa lahat. Nahahawa niya lahat sa energy niya and that’s what I like most about him,” she said.

And what does Donny have to say about her? “Belle is herself. Sometimes she separates herself, she goes what she thinks with, like, her life, and doesn’t care about what other people say. I really admire that about her,” said Donny during his January 2022 interview with Karen Davila. “She doesn’t let anyone affect her. She’s very focused.”

They’re in a “happy place”

In the same interview with Davila, Donny was asked about his relationship with Belle. While not revealing much, his reply did prompt fans to think that there might be something more behind the camera.

“Belle and I are in a happy place right now,” said Donny. “We’re very grateful for our situation and blessed to be an inspiration to many people, hopefully. More than that, we’re blessed to be having these projects together.”

In another interview, Donny expressed how grateful he is that he has found a genuine relationship with Belle. “I as well can open up to her. I as well can be myself with her. It’s rare for me to put down my walls and with her, it’s possible kasi I trust her so much,” Donny added.

They will always be each other’s love team partner

Although Donny has been in a different love team pairing in the past (Kisses Delavin), he confidently says that his He’s Into Her leading lady will always be his favorite.

“She’ll always be my love team to me,” said Donny during a press conference for the show’s second season. “In terms of love team, wala din akong nakikitang ibang gustong makasama kundi siya kasi siya ‘yung favorite kong co-actor ever. I mean in terms of everything we’ve gained together and done together.”

As for Belle, she shared that they have talked about the possibility of being paired with other actors and actresses. She said she would be supportive of Donny’s passions and in projects they won’t do together. However, she stressed that they would have to talk about it first. “I don’t wanna be a hindrance to his growth. So yeah, we’ll talk about it muna and communicate,” said Belle.

They’re sooo comfortable with each other

DonBelle’s small moments scattered online will do the talking — they’re goofy when they’re together. They’re already an awesome pair on cam but it’s the off-screen moments that have us convinced they make a cute couple. Here’s one of Donny making faces while on stage with Belle:

Yes, they’re not a couple (yet) but this video is oozing with couple vibes and everyone in the comments section felt it. Watch Belle and Donny answer questions like “Who’s more clingy?” or “Sino’ng mas matampuhin?” Challenge: Try not to smile throughout the video.
