That phase of quarantine where everyone was baking seems like eons ago. Perhaps many would come out of the quarantine having perfected bread recipes and desserts, but the reality is that not everyone has an oven. But here’s the thing: just because you don’t have one doesn’t mean you can’t try your hand at making treats, especially when your cravings kick in. We’ve rounded up some easy no-bake treats that are guaranteed to perk up your mood:
Who doesn’t love pizza? Not everyone has the time or tools needed to prepare pizza dough, but all you need to whip up this 10-minute pizza for merienda is bread, cheese, and your favorite topping. You don’t even need pizza sauce – you can use your favorite ketchup.
Whether you’re on that workout grind or simply want to quit eating sugary biscuits, oatmeal energy balls are the way to go for a filling and guilt-free snack. They’re made with oats, peanut butter, and flaxseed, which are packed with protein and fiber. A ball or two will keep you full!
Stop buying store-bought granola bars! Try making these granola bars that you can dress up with different flavors. Add your favorite dried fruits, nuts, or even some coconut. Maybe throw in some chocolate chips too? Be careful; you might start eating the mixture before they set in the fridge… They’re that good.
A slice of silky smooth cheesecake paired with a cup of bittersweet coffee is always a good idea. Cheesecakes are traditionally baked, but it doesn’t mean that a chilled one won’t be as good. To make it even better, add your favorite fruit!
Why spend hundreds of pesos on a box of chocolates when you can make the same thing with ingredients you probably have at home? *No shade intended at all* Kidding aside, this truffle recipe is perfect for every sweet tooth who can’t get enough of chocolates. You only need condensed milk and cocoa powder!
Bread and cookies are probably the crowd favorite among home bakers this quarantine. Cookies are very easy to make, and you can still make your house smell like sugar and vanilla even without an oven. Just use a good old frying pan!
Pinoys make the best fridge cakes. Mango graham cake or mango float instantly makes any celebration better – it’s creamy and sweet, and mango makes it better. There’s no standard recipe for this as it differs per household. Some add gelatin or gulaman; others add fruit cocktail. Either way, it’s allways a great dessert.
Because homemade is always better! Self-control, please. (Don’t keep on “tasting” the mixture.) Make this even better with your favorite Lily’s peanut butter or the brandless jars from the palengke!
