It has been exactly two years since Emman Nimedez passed away. The content creator succumbed to acute myeloid leukemia, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow, on August 16, 2020. As a tribute to the filmmaker and singer, his friends are set to release a song Nimedez himself used to work on.

“Simula”

At 7 PM on August 16, 2022, Nimedez’s posthumous song and music video “Simula” will be released on his YouTube channel. It will feature his friends and fellow singers Awi Columna, Kiyo, and Allison Shore. Nimedez’s Facebook page, which has been inactive for some time now, made the official announcement which garnered 188k likes as of writing.

No further details about the song are revealed yet except for the hashtag #LastSongofEmmanNimedez which hints that he was involved in creating it before his untimely passing.

Pinoys pour messages of encouragement and sadness

While Pinoys were excited about Nimedez’s posthumous work, many are also still grieving for the content creator who was “gone too soon.” Many left comments about how they missed Nimedez and his unique brand of comedy and artistry. On Facebook and YouTube, an outpouring of comments supporting the upcoming song could be read. One thing is for sure, everyone will be tuning in to his last song.

Emman Nimedez, a legend

Playfully dubbed as “Pambansang Oppa,” Nimedez rose to fame when he started creating parodies of K-drama scenes in 2017. In those short clips, he managed to display his brilliance in the elements of filmmaking — from camera angles to editing and color grading. It also gave everyone a glimpse of his creative mind and his stellar acting skills.

Years later, he pursued another passion — singing. Nimedez released three songs in 2020: “Teka Lang,” “Kung Pwede Lang,” and “Uuwian.”

Nimedez was also one of the most followed local content creators in the industry. He currently has 2.78 million YouTube subscribers and 1.6 million Facebook followers.
