Valentine’s is around the corner. The streets will be packed with people wearing red and carrying bouquets, and the demand for chocolates will increase once again. It’s a celebration of love for many, but it’s a day for eye-rolls to us singles. While couples splurge on fancy dinners and gifts, we’ll probably be stuck at home, waiting out the inevitable traffic jams. But we got you. You wouldn’t have to feel forever alone on Valentine’s with these activities:
Be like Shakira and show your classmates that your hips don’t lie. Don’t worry if you’ve got two left feet! You’ll definitely have a good time here. You’ll be surrounded by people who just want to be groovy for a couple of hours, and it’s a good form of exercise too.
Gigs and concerts are always fun, especially when you go alone. You don’t really need a buddy in events like these as you’ll end up meeting new people as you show the love for the artists. Don’t miss out on this year’s UP Fair; they’ve got an amazing lineup for local bands.
If you’re single, why not gather other single friends and have one big night out? Whether you spend it at an escape room or a bar singing to hugot and bitter songs, hanging out with friends will always be fun and memorable. Plus, it’s Valentine’s. Just a touch of alcohol can’t be bad. And if you drink a little bit more than that, don’t sweat it. It’s V-Day! YOLO!
Why splurge on chocolates and roses when you can buy books? Ready your reading list because the world’s biggest book sale, Big Bad Wolf, is returning to Manila and it happens to open on Valentine’s. The sale is open for 24 hours so feel free to drop by at any time and stay for as long as you want. Who knows, maybe you’ll get to experience a romcom-worthy meet-cute.
Learn about the old walled city of Intramuros by joining one of their walking tours! If you’ve got a knack for history and learning facts about places, this activity is for you. You may add a tour of the dungeons of Fort Santiago in your itinerary as it has recently opened to the public. For a more fun experience, go there at night as it is open until 10 PM.
Watching horror movies as a group is always fun as it’s a game of who screams first. You may not have someone to cuddle with during the scary parts, but you’ve got family members to have a good laugh with when someone screams in advance. Here’s a list of Pinoy movies that would make you leave the lights on for a night or two.
Gordon Ramsay is shaking. Whether it’s learning a new dessert or savory dish, a cooking class would be useful for the future. You would not only be full at the end; it would also add some hubby material points. It’s also a nice way to connect with people who have the same love for food.
If you’re up for meeting a potential lover, maybe it’s time to ask one of your friends to hook you up with someone they think would fit your standards. See a movie, go to a buffet, go crazy! It might not work out in the end but at least you had a great time. Be brave even for just a night.
