Miss Universe Philippines Rabiya Mateo is finally just a few days away from the Miss Universe stage, and we cannot wait to throw our support behind her. If you want to see how she has been preparing for the pageant, you should watch the three-episode series MUP just released entitled Following Rabiya. Here are some of our favorite moments of the beauty queen from the short show.
The series starts right in the middle of Rabiya’s second day of photoshoot. And from the get-go, the beauty queen admits, “Actually, I’m kinda tired.” Everyone, say “Me too, Miss Rabiya.” *cries*
She immediately follows it up with another comment, saying she’s enjoying her time because of the people around her. Aww, we’re glad she has a great team behind her.
Contrary to what you may think, Rabiya hasn’t ever been out of the country. This trip to the United States for the Miss Universe pageant marks her first-ever trip abroad. Her smile is so big you could just feel the excitement emanating from her.
For her first duties as a Miss Universe candidate, Rabiya had to visit sponsors and do some PR and marketing on behalf of the show. On the way there, she shared that she’s jet lagged and still suffering from insomnia. And frequent travellers can def relate. Except Rabiya is still looking so fresh even while sleep-deprived. What’s your secret, queen?
(P.S. We miss being jet-lagged, too. *cries*)
At one point during the sponsor visit, the crew asked her and her fellow candidates to show off some moves for the camera. “I’m not a dancer, but I’m a performer,” she cheekily whispered to her vlog. But fun fact, Rabiya is actually a dancer, but more of the folk or traditional genre.
Rabiya’s schedule is probably so packed full of her duties for Miss Universe. And she even had to do shoots in the great outdoors — while wearing high heels! “Hingal ka, girl,” one of the crew members said, making Rabiya laugh. Gets naman. Stay strong, queen!
This might be the most relatable thing on the show. We understand the feeling. We want just five more minutes of beauty rest (or just plain ol’ rest). Not that Rabiya needs more beauty rest, but the crown is waiting for you, queen!
“Iyakin ako,” she said while looking at the mini Rabiya figurine on her simple send-off spread. Girl, same, ang daming feelings.
Admit it; that’s all of us at home, jumping up and down while watching the Miss Universe pageant. That’s every Filipino cheering you on, Rabiya!
Watch the show on the Miss Universe Philippines app. Download it on iOS or Android.
The 69th Miss Universe Competition will be held on May 17, 8:00 AM PH time. Cheer Rabiya on by livestreaming the show on iQiyi.
